Day 4, running with the same blade two days in a row. Along with some glass food storage containers I got from credit card rewards (yay, adult decisions!) My new boots arrived. Finally treating myself to a pair of insulated boots for this winter.

Cool! What kind of boots?

Day 4

Today I carried my Golfer again, but no actual use. (At least until now, early evening.)

Starting to miss my scale tools, as much as I love this little alox classic. Think I'm going to stick out the weekend with it before bumping back to an 84mm with cellidor scales. Next weekend I have a camping trip/public education event with the SAR crew and I'll be needing a bit more blade anyway.

Just a Chinese cheapie, Lynn LeFey threw it in as a gift when I bought something from her.  :salute: Although it's a non-brand light, I just love it. Compact, light, solidly built and bright.

Day 5,
Well since we're on flashlights... Time for new batteries in my penlight, then to dive in to the book below.

Day 5:

Getting ready for the day. If it stops raining, me and the two oldest may head down to a creek to play. If so, I'll probably have some more outdoor pics.

Is that a streamlight?

How do you carry a 2xAAA light? I've always found them just long enough to be uncomfortable in a pocket.

Btw, getting a bit envious of your red beauty

It is a stream light stylus, but it's actually AAAA. It goes in my shirt pocket at work because it's genuinely pen sized. However the batteries are tough to find and work provides them, so when I'm off the clock I tend to carry a AAA Streamlight and use some rechargeable cells. It fits nicely in my front pocket if I clip it.

They DO make a microstream model that is 1x AAA, I don't have one, but it may fit your needs!

That's interesting, I didn't realize they were AAAA. I bet that does make it easier to carry. I guess the trade off is harder to find batteries.

The nice thing with streamlight is they have replaceable rubber caps for the pushbuttons. Every two years or so I wear the cap out as it is exposed when clipped to my pocket and rubs things.

Feeling this minimalist challenge is going well, I'm thinking of trying the 58,65,74mm challenge later this year. Or the discontinued challenge :D I have an executive and two Wenger sportsman models coming soon....

Day 5

Carried on with the Golfer, pictured here when we were having our semi-traditional Saturday exotic coffees with the Mrs. Also, the wife took me SAK-shopping today, she wanted to buy me one as a gift - just because, no particular reason, now isn't she great? :) - but unfortunately the shop did not have anything in stock I have on my wishlist right now.

Thanks guys

I just recently found it at an antique store. It brings my pioneer collection to 4. The old cross, the black one that I've edc'd for 5 or 6 years and two dark grey ones I picked up to have as a backup in case the black one went missing.

Well we won't see my waiter in the rest of this challenge... Sent a buddy of mine off to college with a little get together tonight, and while sorting through his things  he couldn't find his pocket knife. Off goes my waiter with him.

Day 6, making a new lanyard/fob/thinger in anticipation of my sportsmen arriving :ahhh
I stand corrected on the Wenger name for sportsman model though. They are victorinox, I bought them in a lot with a Wenger Highlander  regardless I'm excited for my new two-layers, which should fill the void left by my waiter heading off to higher duties.

Day 6:

Changed out the paracord lanyard for a leather one. Seems to fit the knife better

Today it's the DofE. I used the toothpick (no photo :) ) and the blade to cut a shrink wrap froma bottle of mouthwash. Did not need more tools than this SAK can offer.

Agreed!  That'd look great on a wood scaled knife too.

I think these would really be the best tool layout for the "my first victorinox" model. Surely crafty children could make use of the scissors and screwdriver!

Day 7, cut up some rags to make a hot compress for my irritated ear. A little knife can do a lot when it's sharp!

Absolutely agree! Also, the same configuration, but with the normal blade - so essentially the Compact with Phillips instead of the corkscrew - could be a very strong seller in general.
