Here are a couple of pics to illustrate why I keep my fob at a specific length.

Here is a normal cutting grip with the main blade; fob hanging out the back. Not in the way of what’s being cut.

Here is tool usage from the other end of the SAK. Fob is aligned underneath the knife, run along the length of my hand, with just the end hanging out. Least amount of dangle, but long enough that Photon and boondoggle don’t end up clumped in my hand.

Ugghhhh....... Woke up this morning, and the tiny amber pendant was broken. Time to find another bit of boondoggle for my fob.

I like your setup.

For my Huntsman, I need to make another pull like this one on my GEC 72. I wanted to make one that had some meaning to it. The two antler pieces are from a 9 point buck I took, and the lighter colored piece of wood beneath the antler is a piece I carved from juniper on my first motorcycle trip to Arizona.

Very nice pull lots of memories

I've made a couple like the one that Stormdrane demonstrated on his blog.  Looks cool too.

I really enjoy his work

Talking about these lanyards has gotten me thinking about striped bass ceviche and brined smoked trout. I made a lanyard for my tackle box as well as a clip pull I have been thinking about making.

I used to use a lanyard around my wrist when i worked at heights, but now i only use them on smaller tools as pulls.
i make them using some leather lace strips and a simple crimped and glued loop. I've made some fancier with braided strips and bull whip ends etc but my EDC tends to be more towards the small and subtle and barely noticeable.
I can pull out my flashlight faster than someone can say "does anyone have a flashlight?"

I tend to use a bright color.  Mine would be more along the lines of fobs than lanyards considering the length I prefer and the descriptions given.
