Wenger mountain bike
on: August 08, 2018, 01:16:11 AM
So I was on a little trip today, and spotted an unusual Wenger in a display case in a shop.  It was the Allen key on it that caught my eye.  (I vaguely remember seeing what may have been the same tool when I was in the same shop many years ago!). I’ve now done a little research online (all of 5 minutes) & I think it may be a mountain bike.  Is this rare, does anyone know?

Yes, that's a Mountain Bike! As with most Wengers, they are somewhat rare now, although they occasionally pop up on ebay.
There are two versions of it, one that includes pliers and one without. Oh, and also another compact variant without openers layer.

If you're not going to get it, do let me know about it as I've been after the plier-less version for a while!

Not 100% sure if it had pliers or not...I think it maybe had, but not certain.  Not sure how much they were looking for it...i’ll Try & contact them to see!  Anyone know how much they usually are??

Last year I have seen NOS Mountain Bike with pliers for CHF 49 (about $ 52 USD) and  NOS Mountain Bike without pliers for CHF 47.50 (about $ 50 USD). Hope it will help.

Thanks Nick...that equates to around £39 with and £37 without pliers.  Still trying to get in touch with the shop...watch this space!

Cheers maxt! 👍🏻  Still no reply from the shop...if i’m Back that way next week I may call in again.  It wasn’t the evolution handles, and I don’t think it had the bike logo?

AFAIK,  in accordance with the Wenger naming, in your photos are shown (from left to right): Biker 37, Biker 36 and Pocket Mountain Bike.

Biker 36
The part # 1.6955. I would definitely agree with the name unless there was a small detail on the box ;)

"Large Mountain Bike" is a 37 with non-evo scales.

Probably all there 'large' \ 'small' words are US dealer inventory names?
Wenger indicated on its instruction leaflets the generic name 'Biker series' and apparently internal documents must have included the part number. The dealer marked the boxes with adhesive labels and gave the names for convenience.

Some update: also I have seen NIB Evolution Biker 37 (with pliers, Evo scales and a bike logo) for CHF 86 (about $ 90 USD). But for me it's a little bit expensive.

I would definitely go for it if it were Biker 37 with plain scales, not Evolution - the latest model sold untill Wenger went off businnes.

The smaller ones - yes, they did. The Evo Biker 37 was in the cardboard box only.

On the other thought, the Biker 37 of mine could also be with this plastic holder, but I usually keep the instruction sheet throw the packaging to a big box and never open it. I did not reckon it exactly, but it came to me brand new from a knife shop.

My "Large Mountain Bike" SAKs came with plastic pouches (which have since been lost, these are users, not shelfqueens).

It's a pic of my Biker 36 with GREY handles.
Are these factory handles?  It seems very unusual for me unless it is advertisement handles with logo etc.

these are users, not shelfqueens
These biker knives are more of a collection piece rather tnan a practical user. IMO, these set is way more convenient.

Yes, factory handles without advertisement. Never seen them before, nor after...
