Time to decide on my new daily carry...
on: August 13, 2018, 07:16:18 AM
This weekend my beloved Wenger SI was lost. It was my go to SAK for the most part. I tried carrying different SAKs but always ended up back with my SI.

Now that it has been lost, I need to look at what to carry daily. The contenders are:

*Pioneer X (silver) with keyring nub removed and Nite Ize Hip Clip installed.

*Pioneer (blue) with keyring nub removed and nite Ize Hip Clip installed.

*GAK with black scales and Swiss Bianco pocket clip installed.

*Syph modded (tools and liners blacked out) Tinker with black Remade Knives 3D printed scales installed.

I have several knives and SAKs in my collection and will grab different ones at times, but I like to have just one as my daily carry. I really like my Buck 110 LT with Leatherman pocket clip, but I feel the need for the added tools of my various SAKs.

I might just start rotating thru those listed and see which one feels best in my pocket while providing the best carry option and usage.

+1

I'd say carry each of them for a week and see which one you find more confortable/adequate for daily tasks.

Too bad about the lost SI.  I'd make it an opportunity to upgrade to the Pioneer X.

Are you absolutely sure it's lost? Any chance you might find it again, under something or someone you know might have found it and will return it?

+1 on the Pioneer X!

I like the suggestion of carrying each to see what fits.  For me, it's all about the tools. In my case, it boils down to the blade and scissors since I use those most frequently.  I think the Alox Pioneer series feature an amazing build quality.  Although not used as frequently as the blade and scissors, I am a huge fan of the inline awl. The cap lifter/driver/wire stripper/bender is also a very versatile tool. The fact that the Pioneer X has a scissors would seal the deal for me but only you know what fits for you.

Good luck!

Jim

This is a GREAT day!!!  SI has been found!!

Memory is a funny thing. I had no clue what I’d done with SI until I found it, then I recalled everything!!!

Basically, I got up Saturday morning to replace one of the coils on my truck. I just tossed some old clothes on, grabbed a hat and grabbed SI on the way out the door.

When all done, I went up to clean up. SI was still in my pocket so I stuck it in my toothbrush holder, brushed my teeth and grabbed a shower.  Apparently it slid down to the back and I just didn’t see it until getting ready for work today.

To say I’m relieved is an understatement!

Thanks to all for the good thoughts!!

You put your pocket knife in your toothbrush holder while you were brushing your teeth and you forgot it was there?  This is the sort of joke that memory plays on us as we get older.  I've often wondered about the bad ideas that make perfect sense when we are tired or hungry, such as putting a knife in a toothbrush holder, that are completely ridiculous at more lucid times.  What I wonder about them is how does my mind come up with these bad ideas and why are there so many of them?

Haha!  Yeah, I stuck it in there to get it out of the way and the wife was talking to me after I got done and I just walked out and forgot all about putting it there!!!  Out of my ordinary routine.
