It's not vintage. It's not expensive (It was under $250). It has Japanese Miyota movement. The fit and finish is marvelous and it keeps great time. It feels great on my arm, and it's a very large, beefy watch (This is the 47mm version). I greatly enjoy wearing it, and I wear it pretty much every day. I don't have another watch, this is all I need.
The Mahogany barrel is now discontinued, so finding one means you'll pay a bit more. There is a similar model out now with oak, but I'm not a big oak fan. I like the more subtley grained woods. My speakers are made of mahogany, so my watch should be too, is how I saw it
I love this thing. Original Grain had some teething problems back when they started. Had a run of watches with bad movement, they'd lose time. My first Original Grain was like that. Found it at Belk of all places, and it must have been sitting there for a long time. It kept losing minutes, and I'd have to reset it every few days. Then it became every day. Then twice a day. Replaced the battery and it was no better. Contacted Original Grain and they were amazing! I mailed them the watch, and they turned around and sent me a new one ASAP. Then they paid for my shipping charges AND paid me for the cost of having the battery replaced at a jeweler's. That was a year and a half ago, and this watch has been stone reliable since.
So, it's not just a good watch. It's a good company.
