Speaking of SOG tools...

SOG also has this 1/4 driver (https://www.sogknives.com/type/accessories/1-4-driver.html), perfect for like sockets etc.
...this wire stripper is pretty cool looking too: https://www.sogknives.com/type/accessories/wire-stripper.html

Anyone have any idea about how modding is required to make a SOG tool fit am LM?

Is it boring out the pivot hole and machining / grinding with laser precision? ..or is it something that can be done with like a Dremel tool and a file?

There are threads on it here somewhere.
A 1/4" driver would be nice to have.

Thank you sir!

I am planning on removing the lanyard ring as well, so that would be perfect actually

I’ll look into it more when I get payed.

Anyway:

So here’s how I’m going to roll for now:

As the can opener is as useful to me and as much needed as decaf coffee, I decided to just get rid of it completely.

Then swapped the awl over to the charge(makes more sense as it is my hiking / camping MT) and the scissors from the Charge over to the Rebar.

As one of you mentioned; I had to move a few of the tools around, but all fits nicely now.

I feel like I am developing a weird and possibly worrying addiction to modding my Rebar....

.....especially after receiving the wrenches and parts from Loki....

.....is that normal or should I reconsider my own sanity?

...well I possibly should anyway to be honest

Just occurred to me that I forgot about mentioning one “mod” I also made in this thread (my “build” thread)

Sharpening of the replaceable cutters:

Results:

As you can see below; pretty dramatic results and difference.

Before:

Sometimes it wouldn't even cut all the way through.

After:

Cuts it clean and like a hot knife through butter

Type of cable used:
(Came off an old TV from the late 90s to early 2000s)

I think it will be difficult for someone to claim copyright on homemade mods  ....plus, this is not a competition anyway, we are all here because we share the same passion and interest in these tools, and want to connect with people of similar interest too.....so no hard feelings if someone takes inspiration / copies ideas from another member.

If anything; I'd feel honoured if something that I did/made/build would serve as an inspiration to others

Not a mod; but found this 2D bit kit at a local hunting & fishing store on sale, so I grabbed it.

I will likely try to come up with a “mod” way of storing it though

Okay, I am just testing an idea out here, so bare with me.

Zip tie moment 1:

With the bit kit, I want to keep the two bit holders together, mainly so when I reach for the bit kit it will be pulled out as one unit and not risk pulling out one and then dropping the other.

But also because the holders have a smooth side on the back, so they will go in and out of the sheath smoother and lower the risk of a bit getting caught.

I did this using small zip ties and shrink tube, to prevent the locks on the zip ties from moving in and tightening themselves more. I want to leave them a little loose so that it is easier to flip them over.

Zip tie moment 2:

So the bit kit fits perfectly into the single sheath my rebar came with.

So to test out an idea, I zip tied it to the side of the sheath for the Charge, like so:

Also this way I can still carry my 3D bits as well:

So it would sit on the belt like so:

Again; I am just testing out an idea here, to see if it works, if it makes the sheath too large, and of course if the idea is a good idea in practice (IRL)

Please share thoughts and other ideas with me, both on this and if you have any other (and better) ideas

I can’t think of anything else on
how to store the bits in a better way  :dunno:

“Nay leather” and “DeadSkins” makes custom sheaths, and they have a model that has a sheath for a bit kit too, but they are expensive....deadskin ones are like 170 day aus dollars.

And I will be frank and say I am not spending that kind of money on a sheath.

Leatherman makes a nylon sheath/ pouch thing for the bit kit too, but I am not a fan of Velcro and nylon sheaths.

My zip tie idea here was also based on costs and what I had laying around, if my Frankenstein sheath idea here turns out to be a good concept, then I might have a go at making one myself or take it to the next step somehow.

However; if it is the case that having one big sheath is a dumb idea, I will start experimenting with having 2 separate sheaths.

In the end; it’s all about finding out what works best for one self.

One thing that has bothered me about my Rebar since I first got it, was that you can’t close both handles at the same time without them hitting each other without opening the pliers, and/or if one handle is in the closed position and the other in the open, then you have to open the pliers to close both handles.

And sometimes due to the handles hitting each other they would slam shut and pinch my hand or finger in the process.

So I had a go with the grinder to try to round them off, as pictured below.

Results are exactly what I hoped for, so now it’s a lot easier to open and close, and the handles can open and close independently from each other too, which makes it a lot easier to open and close one handedly too
