Cheap Casio Owners Club
on: August 24, 2018, 01:47:15 AM
Because why not? For those of you who just want a good time-keeper, cheap Casios are the way to go.

This one was actually $30, but its cheaper than a lot of watches

I have a few cheap Casios and they are reliable as could be. Forgot the model numbers but my favorite cheapie is the calculator version.

I thought I would gather two 80's Casio watches that I had when I was in high school and possibly elementary school. The one on the left is a Casio 815 TS-100 that I wore in High School. Back in the 80's, Casio watches were something exciting. I remember thinking that the thermometer was way cool.  The one on the right is older I think as this one I wore in my grade 8 year. This is a 588 AE-20W. The main attraction for me was the alarm mode which lights up the watch with a dancing LED display. The original bracelet broke long ago, and my Dad replaced it with a Timex Ironman bracelet. Unfortunately, this watch is very small and will not fit my wrists. Mind you, the reason why I am posting a photo of these two watches...I just found the older Casio hiding in the back of a display case. I had forgotten I still had the watch. It was a happy reunion. After the left watch, I upgraded to a Casio Calculator watch (more gadgets...something Casio was renown for). I still have that watch, but the  plastic touch pad fell off ages ago.

F-91W probably the least expensive watch they make. Although it does have a slightly murky history https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casio_F-91W?wprov=sfti1

Having said that it’s so inexpensive that you can break it and throw it away without a second thought.

Buyer beware though, there are a lot of fakes about.

Thank you, CsB!
I just got the watch today, but the calculator works well. Unfortunately my fingertips are too big to make it a commonly used function. :ahhh
In a pinch, it would definitely come in handy. I would just use my pen (retracted position of course) to punch the numbers. :)
I like how Casio used a reverse printed acrylic plate for the buttons(little things like that make stuff great). The functions won't wear off. :woohoo:

I bought a couple cheap Casios and just recently the one I kept strap broke.  Its been a flawless watch.  Every G Shock I now I own has also come cheap.  I get them from the fleamarket.  They usually need a battery and a good cleaning.

As long as its serviceable I have no problem  :salute:.  I've outfitted many friends and family with quality G Shocks costing me $10 or less.  The most I've spent on a G Shock was $20 it was the black IP GW700BDJ.  I'm lucky with a large fleamarket in my area.  The Wenger I got for $3  :-[.  It needed work, still does but it works and I can now see thru the mineral crystal.  Sorry for the bad pic.

My only gripe aboit the cheap Casios is acrylic crystal that can scratch easily. But, it can be buffed out, if it is obstructing the view of the screen. :)

Hey, my cheap Casio is the same one.  I got red and the band just barely broke.  I wore it pretty regularly over the years.  Its still on the same battery too.
