Well, I went back to EMS today- and I bought the LM Serac S3! While I was going to check out I saw a SilverTech Lite and I had to have it! It is SO much brighter than the red LED found on older models!

The little red LEDs are a joke compared to it! I wonder if they will make a SilverTech SwissCard?

That is much more impressive than I thought it would be.  I might have to find a bunch of keys that need a new SAK on them.  :)

Oh my, that's so much better. I originally wanted pen, light, and a standard SAK selection on my keychain.

It looks like I can get rid off half the stuff on my keychain now! If only they'd make a silvertech SAK whistle...

I am really keen on these, but since I stopped carrying larger 91mm SAK's I like these 58mm to have tweezers and a tooth pick.  It's a shame Vic couldn't squeeze one or the other in there.  :(

The newest white led light on the signature series of Vic SAK's have replaced the old red led light. The Swiss Bit flash drive knives have already changed over to the white light only. It used to be you could only get the bright white light on a 1gb or higher version of the Swiss Bit. Well now that they only have the large memory versions they are all white led lights. Very bright and much more functional as a torch than the red led ever was.

No 91mm at all?  Do you mind if I ask why?

Well I do occasionally and if I do it has been my Wenger Handwerker.  But I always have a Swisstool (or other MT) on me and I also always have a Wenger Clipper AT, so I don't carry them often as they generally only offer me tool duplication.

I generally have a OH folder with me as well so it's not even like I have to carry one for a spare blade either.  Still, this I am sure will change again very soon.  :)

::) Well i don't guess I was paying enough attention to the Swiss Sub-forum :D

I asked about this very knife in the Fav 58mm thread

I still got an answer but if I had looked here I would have gotten the answer :P :D

This sure does seem like an awesome knife for EDC :tu:

Does the Huntsman Lite have this same bright White LED light, or do the non-Silvertech series knives have dimmer white LEDs in them?

Thx-
RenHoek

hmmmm...I've seen it advertised (on Victorinox's site and elsewhere) as having a White light...just not sure if there's a difference now that the super-bright Silvertech LEDs are out....

Thx-
RenHoek

I definitely a white LED on the 91mm SAKs.  I don't know how the brightness compares with the new Sig.Lite.

The led light in my Huntsman Lite is noticeable NOT as bright as the one in the Sig.Lite in my keychain, both have white lights. I bought them almost at the same time but how old or new are the batteries in each SAK is difficult to know...

There is alot of good info, but sometimes you have to hunt for it. Like the individual tools or features on a knife have links to a separate page that will describe the tool and have specs or a photo sometimes. The other guy that has done alot of work on SAKWicki, Mr Fix That,  has really put in a ton of details for some of the features of individual tools that are really informative. :tu:

i have the SilverTech Sig and the old red led one

i refuse to carry the red one because the red led is pathetic, useless really. the extra size and weight are not worth it over a classic sd.

the SilverTech Sig conversely, is great. the white led is a huge improvement and can replace most keychain lights (unless you have a high performance light like the fenix ld01 on your keychain). it provides a very useful amount of pure white light for edc.

the pen is good and useful, again saving space and weight, although it needs a lot of prompting to write sometimes in a cold environment.

i don't need a toothpick but i do miss the excellent victorinox tweezers so i do have to carry other tweezers with this if i want them (i do)

it's chunkier and heavier than not only the classic sd but due to the pen it's slightly larger than the old red led version but the capability to weight ratio for this tool is unmatched due to the superb light.

mine came with the bluntest point (quite acceptable edge though) on the main blade i have ever seen on a 58mm vic but you can't have everything.

oh and this tool looks badass
