Soft drawstring pouch for pocket carry?
on: August 30, 2018, 09:43:11 AM
I wonder if anyone has any suggestions for a soft drawstring pouch for a 91mm three-layer Super Tinker.

I prefer to carry my SAK in my pocket, not on my belt, but I'd like it to also have a little bit of protection from rubbing against the liner of my pocket, picking up lint, etc.  I figured that a nice soft pouch with a drawstring closure would be the perfect solution, but I'm actually having some trouble finding one that's just right.

Hmm, perhaps even a small leather pouch, now that would be pretty classy!

Not sure about a drawstring bag, but there are plenty of leather slip cases for pocket knives out there.  GEC and Collector Knives both make them or you could try ebay and etsy.

Welcome.  Maybe a coin purse would also do.

Victorinox makes leather slip cases for the knives.  Or perhaps made, I have trouble finding current links for three layers.

I've made a few out of offcuts of cloth like T-Shirt and curtain. I'm not a seamstress but they fit well and are quite satisfying. EDIT: I don't bother with a a drawstring but make them longer so they sit deep into the cloth pouch.

Here's a few I made.

Maybe with a flashlight in a small child's sock? Right size, soft, and easily cleaned. And no, I'm not suggesting you steal a sock off a child's foot, perhaps while said spawnling is in a stroller, and then run away giggling. I mean, you could, but... that would be horrible. Particularly if you made a habit of it.

Since I don't have space right now for my collection to be displayed properly, it's in a hard, air tight case with a moisture absorber, and each is rolled up in a dollar store baby sock that is turned inside out. Cheap white cotton socks are something I've used for years as small ditty bags, washed once then air dried before using, and secured with a rubber band if needed.

Any pouch made out of cotton will have lint. It defeats the purpose of keeping out lint if you stick your SAK in a cloth pouch.

Nylon is your best bet for a pouch.
