Like a few others, I prefer using a dedicated box or open-ended wrench, but it's hard to beat the versatility and convenience of an adjustable: they work on both metric, SAE, and Whitworth nuts and bolts. I've got a few different sizes, ranging from 4" to 15". While the box wrench reigns supreme in my garage or hobby room, it's the adjustable I have with me when walking or driving around. In my motorcycle tool kit I keep a few key box/open wrenches and specific sockets, but I also have an adjustable for the unexpected. I find an 8" adjustable to be the most useful all-around size, but my favorite is probably this 4" Diamond Horseshoe adjustable. Slips easily into a bag or pocket and has proven useful in a number of situations when I don't have the right tool at hand. And it's often just quicker and easier to pull a 4" out of a bag or pocket for some small job. Paired with a multi, it's a versatile combination for EDC. (Image removed from quote.)

I've always thought the hammer poll on adjustables was a wise addition and admission of how the tool would really be used.

A bit like mole grips?
Quote from: Sparky415 on September 18, 2018, 07:43:22 PM A bit like mole grips?I guess, the only thing is there spring loaded, so they will only tighten so tight, unlike the others you adjust to what you want it to tighten to. So if you took a spring and put these on it and clamped it down on the spring it would only tighten down so far, unlike the adjustable ones you can adjust them really tight and squeeze it down to lock and fully compress the spring, get it?JR

So you could use them for picking up donuts in the workshop without getting oil on your food? I need a pair
I don't think I would want to eat a donut that had been picked up by a plumber's tools. Sorry buddy.
