First time Fire starting
on: September 08, 2018, 12:33:16 PM
I got this fire starter rod for free
when I bought my blue PioneerX

I have never used one before
So today I had a go at practicing
Starting a small fire with some hay

I had a few strikes before it lid up
But I got it to work  :tu:

Solving problems you didn't know you had in the most obscure way possible

"And now, it's time to hand this over to our tame race axe driver. Some say, he can live in the forest for six months at a time without food, and he knows of a secret tribe of only women where he is their God. All we know is, he's call the Styx!" - TazzieRob

You could try “feather-stick”-ing. Some good tutorials on the interwebs. A common way to do it with straight wood.

A different name for what you have :tu:

Fire rods
Those sparky stick-y things
Fire steels
Ferro rods

All the same tool

Probably should've emphasized the are way more fun.

There are also rods that have a striker inside the handle, and the rod depresses like a plunger, so you just grab it and push down.

I’ll try to find a video for you :tu:

I'll just leave this here...   ;)   :)

Now I made my first video ever on how I use my ferro rod. So don't make to much fun of me and my South Eastern Ohio  accent. Hope you enjoy, even if  it is at my expense. Lol!
