Leatherman Sidekick Clones
on: September 08, 2018, 05:08:33 PM
There's these 2 clones that I recently picked up for cheap.. Left, Sidekick. Centre, China no brand $15. Right, Guidesman(used) $12 I think.

The China no brand is quite a bite larger than the other 2 though it doesnt quite show in the picture..

Main blade.

Tool set.

All are not locking for secondary tools but have a pretty good snap to them

Nice and shiny. How are they? Any glaring flaws?

Interesting that they think the Sidekick is worth taking inspiration from.  I actually like the Sidekick, but it does seem an odd choice to clone.
Be excellent to each other and always know where your towel is.

Agreed, especially since the Sidekick/Wingman/Rev family are designed specifically to be cheap enough to compete with such imported tools as the Suspension.

However, I quite like that one with the big sheepsfoot blade.

The no branded one is very bulky but feels solid and the cutter and pliers are pretty good. What I dun like on it is they have individual spring bar for all the tools. It's too complicated to build and prone to damage.. The tool set doesn't look too very functional.. But the philips is very well formed  and performed very well.

The guidesman's design, the tools are very functional minus the fish scaler... The pliers is a big fail. The spring pliers stop flex on pressure.. I can squeeze the 2 handles together without using much strength..

If, they have the China pliers on the guidesman, I wouldn't mind paying even $30 on it..

Well, that doesn't mean the sidekick have no flaws...
