Swiss Military by Chrono.
on: September 10, 2018, 03:18:39 AM
I am ashamed to say that I mostly forgot I had this watch. I purchased it online a while back because I liked the look of the watch. I recently reminded myself that I had bought a Chrono watch when I stumbled upon their web page looking at Swiss related watches. I looked at this watch and thought it looked somewhat familiar, which caused me to go digging.

I think I need to replace the battery and get this one into the EDC rotation.

Thanks. This was an impulse purchase. I think I wore it once and stored it away until today after being reminded of it from the manufacturers web site. Yeah...go me.  :-[

Chako...Chako....Chako....We don't, necessarily, need to call them "impulse buys." :pok:

I prefer the term "unnecessary needs." :D

All kidding aside, it is a damn good looking watch, it deserves to be worn. :)

I agree...just need to bring it into a jeweler for a battery.  Mind you, I just bought a Timex Expedition Grid Shock watch off Amazon.

Chako,
With your seemingly growing watch collection, it might be a good idea to order some case tools and batteries. I stopped taking my watches to a jeweler about ten years ago, because the jeweler put a battery in my first Accutron the wrong way and said the watch didn't work. He obviously saw the Accutron battery is naturally upside down when he removed the dead battery. Now, instead of wondering if the jeweler damaged the case-seal (thin o-ring) or installed the wrong battery, I take my sweet time cleaning the seal cavity, back, and seal before installing the new battery. A jeweler's time is money, so they don't always do a very thorough job. The tools are fairly cheap and once you do a few battery changes, you'll have paid for the tools. Just a thought. :)
All you need is:
Case back blade(for pop off cases) - I use a strong pocket knife blade that isn't sharp.
Case back press (comes with a dozen nylon discs to accommodate any press fit case backs).
Case back wrench (go for the three side version, as the small two-pin versions like to slip out of the case back notches).
A set of super fine watch drivers(in case you need to remove a screw to get to a battery).
And an assortment of watch case seals (thin o-rings in various sizes/thicknesses).

Looking on Amazon, the tool kits aren't all that expensive.

It pays for itself after a few times. And when ordered, batteries are really cheap, even good batteries.
