Does anyone know if it's possible to add oak scales to a SAK mod with exposed rivets? Will the oak be strong/hard enough to stop any movement of the tools once peened?
It's a standard modern 91mm SAK I'm modding.
Cheers for any opinions.
Ideally, at least one pin needs to be peened to something more substantial than wood. If you're not using bolsters, I would suggest peening a hidden pin direct to the liners. The other three pins should then be OK left exposed and peened in the oak I reckon. However, there is still a risk of pull through if heavy twisting occurs, such as the cap lifter driver was used hard.
