Oh man,
I forgot what a pain it is to polish sharp blades. So, I temporarily dulled the edge and wore leather buffing gloves.
Here is a pic about 3/4 through the wheel polish.

And after a copious buffing with Brasso and an oiling to keep it looking this way. Now I'm happy.  :)

Many thanks, NutSAK! Your Case Barlow was just what I needed to see to get mine looking spiffy. The scales on mine aren't shaped as nicely, but that is fine, considering the age(The man I bought it from said his Dad got it in the 1940s. Tang stamp evidentiary for 1940-1964).

That Case is the Barlow of my dreams!!
For collectables, I do love that Case you have with the scrollwork Al.  I think my favorite is that Queen Dean has with the horn slabs.  Just lovely.

I'm kinda partial to my '70 Case too, because it's purdy and traditional at the same time, and it's the only Barlow I have:

Yep, that is one hell of of a great knife to have in a collection, and more in the tradition than mine with the bone slabs and the drop-point as well. That one should make anybody proud to own!!

 :salute: Thanks, NutSAK!

The Case Barlow may be my new favorite Case knife. And I have spent a lot on a few Cases in the past.

Barlow is a classic. I've never owned one, however, this and another Barlow thread have me interested.  I would love to find an old Russell or Dexter, though I imagine those would be out of my league.  Dexter as a company is still in business although they are strictly an industrial food prep knife company now. We have a big Dexter bread knife with a white, FRN, ribbed handle.

The Russells were made not far from me.

Really nice stuff in this thread

:iagree: Beagle!  The Case Barlows really hit a note with me, living where I do.  Like I've said before, there's an emotional attachment to the style as that's what the farmer side of my family carried in their pockets exclusively.  I don't know the makes, although I know they weren't Case.  It's a tried and true design that keeps on winning converts!  Steve, I might be interested too buddy...it's time I got my feet wet in the Barlow Game  :D

Unless I'm looking wrong on the Case website, I see no Barlows being produced by them currently?

So, neither Russell nor Dexter, apart nor in any of their intertwined incarnations neither of them produce a Barlow any longer, and they arguably were some of the earliest US producers of them. Nor is Case churning an out. Bucks were produced by someone else and Schrade isn't what it once was...

Where the hell do you go for US made Barlow these days?

Be wary of the Kutmaster.  Noah got one that had to have passed a QC with the world's worst hangover . You can't beat an old knife from online.

I believe they are made in the U.S. but they are definitely working class.
