And after a copious buffing with Brasso and an oiling to keep it looking this way. Now I'm happy.
For collectables, I do love that Case you have with the scrollwork Al. I think my favorite is that Queen Dean has with the horn slabs. Just lovely.I'm kinda partial to my '70 Case too, because it's purdy and traditional at the same time, and it's the only Barlow I have:(Image removed from quote.)(Image removed from quote.)
Looks good!
Many thanks, NutSAK! Your Case Barlow was just what I needed to see to get mine looking spiffy. The scales on mine aren't shaped as nicely, but that is fine, considering the age(The man I bought it from said his Dad got it in the 1940s. Tang stamp evidentiary for 1940-1964).
Barlow is a classic. I've never owned one, however, this and another Barlow thread have me interested. I would love to find an old Russell or Dexter, though I imagine those would be out of my league. Dexter as a company is still in business although they are strictly an industrial food prep knife company now. We have a big Dexter bread knife with a white, FRN, ribbed handle. The Russells were made not far from me.Really nice stuff in this thread
Unless I'm looking wrong on the Case website, I see no Barlows being produced by them currently?
I might be thinning my Barlow collection down a bit, keep an eye out in B&S
So, neither Russell nor Dexter, apart nor in any of their intertwined incarnations neither of them produce a Barlow any longer, and they arguably were some of the earliest US producers of them. Nor is Case churning an out. Bucks were produced by someone else and Schrade isn't what it once was...Where the hell do you go for US made Barlow these days?

E-Bay Kutmaster has a Barlow although I'm not sure where they are made http://www.kutmaster.com/productline/kutmaster/tool-knives.php
