Day 30. Continued.......

Firstly thanks to Styx for organising this challenge and thanks to all the other participants for their excellent posts and pictures.

When I first got my Spirit, my first thoughts were "it's much too shiny to be a serious multitool"

So, when Styx dreamt up this challenge I thought it was a good opportunity to put it to the test.

And test it I did, undoing tough screws, prying, filing steel shafts, even cutting steel shims with the scissors to no ill effect!

I love the pliers with their slightly stubby tips and the fine serrations on the grips, the cutters work great too.

Overall it packs so much into a relatively small form factor and I like how all the tools open from the outside.

The separate bit kit and wrench is brilliant, and as I've said before i prefer it to the Leatherman bit driver.

I can't really think of anything negative to say about it, apart from maybe the size of the scissors!

I've really put it to the test over the last 30 days, it's still smooth to operate, all the tools work as they should and it still looks great, and..........
      ...... It's still shiny  :o

day 30 - oddly little to do so fixed this Zippo

I wanted this challenge because the Spirit has been a part of my edc in some shape or form since the day I got my paws on it. One of the more interesting things about it is how it shows me what I need in my EDC and what is overkill. For instance I need a smaller, more precise blade like an electrician blade. I could use some scissors. Having an awl and a saw while a must in the past are not often used in my current job. So I'll be looking at an Alox Minichamp
However the Spirit still is a very capable tool that might be a bit too much for pocket carry in the office but as that EDC bag tool that gets pulled out when things get serious it fits the bill perfectly

:iagree:  Nice summary Phil!  I've learned a new respect for this tool, and I really think it's going to be my hiking/camping edc.  It compares favorably, in my opinion, with the Craftsman which seems to come pretty close toolwise. I think the Spirit  will pocket carry better though!
Day 30.

The Haunting of the Turnip .......

It's been a fun challenge thank you Styx and it's been good to rely upon the Spirit. I don't need one as EDC but that doesn't mean it hasn't been good carrying one as a choice. And I think it is a much more polished (literally) tool than my LM Wave. With the Plus tools and a corkscrew (with mini screwdriver) it has everything I need.

Day 30!

Had the day off from work but spent it taking care of my 5 month old. I did find one use for it today, putting together another one of his toys.

Make up day for me.  Put the Philips screwdriver to good use tightening a loose hinge screw.

Day 29
Today the Spirits pliers and blade helped me with the following.

I've got a new set of Leatherman Bits and some of them kept falling out. This seems to be a known problem  ::)
So I came up with the following idea that appears to work fine for me.

1. Remove the bit if it didn't fall out yet
2. Heat up a needle and push it through the holder into the bit compartment (just to the middle, not fully through). The molten plastic will create a bump on both sides of the hole.
3. Remove the needle and the bump on the outer side.

Day 30
Final day for me too now  :salute:
Thanks styx, this was a very enjoyable challenge.
I did come directly from the Wave challenge, just had to wait 2 more days until my Spirit X got delivered, and I was super excited to test it thoroughly of course  :ahhh

So how did it work out for me? Excellent  :2tu:
I don't want to rephrase what others mentioned already, like DT's summary for example.

The scissors are a bit of a let down for me though.
For my uses they sometimes don't open wide enough. And if you cut some sticky tape etc. you want to clean them easily which is a bit of a hassle if you cannot open them fully.

BUT, they do cut precise and well.

Anyhow, the Spirit X plus will stay in my EDC for quite a while I guess  :hatsoff:

...oh, and here are the pictures from today.
Peeled a kiwi, checked a dodgy looking power socket and removed tags and lose threads from my new jacket  :salute:

I'm sure the batches will fly in shortly for those who are missing them still  :drink:

there is one negative of using the Spirit exclusively for this long - no clue what to EDC tomorrow
