Day 2:

So tempted to test out these wire cutters. These  expensive yet crappy fraying lightening cables really annoy me.

Day 3, part 2/2

Et voilà... :D

Bonus tech use pic and autumn/fall glam shot.

Tools used: scissors, main blade, Phillips (which managed those small screws) and chisel (one of the smurfing batteries had leaked, thus had to be pried out and contacts cleaned).
Cheers!

Day 3:

I had mentioned in the shaving thread that I had recently acquired a new to me Gillette super speed razor from the '40's

Well, I noticed that the crimp groove was a little wonky looking after fixing the dropped knob issue using the pipe cutter with a washer trick. So, I had come across another method where a binder clip handle is used, and I thought that may fit the groove better and allow me to make it look smooth again.

I used the spirits pliers to squeeze the binder clip wire while I turned the razor handle.

I'm happy to report that it was successful!

Day 02 :

I find the Spirit so easy to carry in the pocket, I doubt I'll do any belt sheath carry. For this challenge, I dug out my pocket caddy. It's designed for a Buck 110, so the Spirit sinks down in the pocket a bit far. You could say it is a Buck 110 costume for my Spirit.

Nevertheless, it works nicely and I'm interested how the caddy does with regular and prolonged use. So, I'll keep using this one for the challenge:

oddly enough, guess which knife and multitool am I carrying today,
in the pocket caddy that someone made for me... :D

Another day with Spirit X.

In the interests of fashion experimentation (ahem) I wore the sheath with my suit and frankly I still don't think so. Mind you, can't say I didn't give it a whirl.

Here I am!

Day 1
Today I've received my new and one and only Spirit X ... and I love it  :like:

It was dripping oil but after an hour of continuous wiping it clean it wasn't that slippery anymore and I had fun trying out the wire cutters, scissors and wire stripper.

The scissors cut very well and precise. But yes, they're a tad short maybe.
And the pliers could open a bit wider maybe.
But I like their ergonomics a lot.

After that it accompanied me on my weekly bike tour.

... some more showing the often mentioned skewed handles. It's 1mm maybe. No problem for me (box shows ©2017 so no old model).
It's only visible with closed handles.

damn Kev

Day 3, put up a new handle on the fridge and lifted some keys off a keyboard. if i hadn't said it before, i really dislike when people request new keyboards because the letters are a bit faded

Day 03 :

I think this photo will require a bit of explanation........

This is my favorite way to carry a bit of TP (Loo paper, for the UK crowd) when camping, hiking, anything-in-the-outdoors. When nature calls, I like to be ready to answer.

Technique:

1. Take a roll of your comfiest TP (I like a roll that's been used up a bit to save space in a pack) and throw a wrap of duct tape or gaffer's tape around the outside. (I usually use hi-vis red duct tape, but that appears to have been used up. )

2. Using a pair of scissors, snip the inner cardboard tube all the way down it's length. In this case, with the Vic's scissors, I had to cut half-way down from each end.

3. Carefully roll up the inner cardboard tube and remove.

4. Flatten the 'roll' and store in a plastic bag to keep dry.

I've been using this technique for decades. It's an easy way to be keep your outdoors hygiene products clean and organized. By removing the inner roll and flattening the whole thing, you save space. To use: just pull some tissue from the center. Easy, even in a woodsman's squat.

MTo'ers, be prepared!    :tu:
