Day 03 :

(Image removed from quote.)

I think this photo will require a bit of explanation........

This is my favorite way to carry a bit of TP (Loo paper, for the UK crowd) when camping, hiking, anything-in-the-outdoors. When nature calls, I like to be ready to answer.

Technique:

1. Take a roll of your comfiest TP (I like a roll that's been used up a bit to save space in a pack) and throw a wrap of duct tape or gaffer's tape around the outside. (I usually use hi-vis red duct tape, but that appears to have been used up. )

2. Using a pair of scissors, snip the inner cardboard tube all the way down it's length. In this case, with the Vic's scissors, I had to cut half-way down from each end.

3. Carefully roll up the inner cardboard tube and remove.

4. Flatten the 'roll' and store in a plastic bag to keep dry.

I've been using this technique for decades. It's an easy way to be keep your outdoors hygiene products clean and organized. By removing the inner roll and flattening the whole thing, you save space. To use: just pull some tissue from the center. Easy, even in a woodsman's squat.

MTo'ers, be prepared!    :tu:

I just realized that I've not yet been prepared...   :o
Nice one Nix  :tu:

Here I am!

Day 1
Today I've received my new and one and only Spirit X ... and I love it  :like:

It was dripping oil but after an hour of continuous wiping it clean it wasn't that slippery anymore and I had fun trying out the wire cutters, scissors and wire stripper.

The scissors cut very well and precise. But yes, they're a tad short maybe.
And the pliers could open a bit wider maybe.
But I like their ergonomics a lot.

After that it accompanied me on my weekly bike tour.

Great to see Matt  :like:

Yes Sir , it handles Leatherman and regular 1/4” hex bits , quite well . It also likes the Leatherman bit extender , which in the picture , has a 1/4” hex to 1/4” drive adaptor .

You just need to pay attention to put the Leatherman bit between the spring-clamp thingy so it's held in place.

Day 3:

Really love how this rides in the pocket. No need for a sheath especially when it fits so perfectly in the 5th pocket.

today got hectic but the Spirit saw a good bit of use

Day 4

Time for a snack. As has been reported, the scissors have a limited opening angle and cutting edge length, so it's one short nibble at a time, but they are sharp.

Sharpened my spirit today , I was doing the knives in the Knifeblocks , in advance of the weekend ( Canadian Thanksgiving ) . My Nephew is spatchcocking two turkeys ( removing the bones , and cooking on the barbeque ) . Takes about an hour on the Barbie. , can be ruff on knives if you nick a lot of bones . Both his knife block and mine are all sharpened , and ready to rumble . I let the Spirit get in on the action , and touched up the edge .

Best Regards,

 Chris
