No cybertool bit kit?
on: September 24, 2018, 04:33:26 AM
Was comparing some options for my next SAK. Was very much interested in a cybertool until I found out that vic doesnt make any ball detent, double sided bits to go with their cybertool. Does that mean that we can’t have any bits other than the 4 that Vic deems that we need?  ??? I know of the magnet mod but would rather not do that, I would like having bits that are made for the tool to prevent slipping if I am tourquing it.

There are 8 Vic bits (all used in the XAVT).
There was a thread here once that showed other ball detent bits.
The ball detents were in a slightly different place but worked.

I also remember it was quite an expensive piece of kit...

No time to search for it atm.

So far, the only one I'm aware of: KRAFTWERK

I recommend putting a magnet in, then you can use any bits.
Something like the "Red Cycling Products - Micro Pocket Tool"
It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

Any advice or guidance on how to magnetize the Cybertool bit driver?

By glueing a small rare earth magnet in the driver.

IIRC , Whia made or used to make some ball detent bits , but to be honest , a rare earth magnet seems more practical , there are 4mm to 1/4”( 6.? mm bits ) adaptors .

Best Regards,

Chris

Those adapters exist, are hard to find, and cost a small fortune for some reason...

I believe the Victorinox 4mm bits are manufactured by german Felo. The 8 bits offered by Victorinox should be these: http://www.felo.com/en/catalog/series/sbit/

(Rotate that banner until you see some double sided 4mm bits at 28mm length).

Might also be on their catalogues page 154 (if the webinfo is up to date).
