Nix sent me a Bob Dozier Personal and it's by far the nicest knife I have. It's so comfortable to use and is a great size. Currently I'm making a leather sheath for it but it comes with a nifty Kydex one.

Come and join if you too are lucky enough to have a Dozier.

The Dozier was my Knife of the Year 2018 - it's my favourite fixed blade still and get's used daily for food prep etc. Thanks Nix!

I'm in with this Dozier-designed folder:

This is an ancient knife for me......I can't really recall when I got it. Maybe the 80's? It's made in Japan for Kabar. D2 steel (Dozier design, right?). Aluminum scales. I was drawn to the simple, slim design.

Dozier's never seem very fancy or ornate to me, be he really seems to excel with ergonomics and utility. While this design is of limited practical utility, he nails the ergos. The D2 has developed a few spots of corrosion, but for an old knife that saw a fair bit of carry time in it's day, it's in remarkable shape.

I've said before that I don't like Kydex but thats not entirely right. I just don't prefer it to leather for certain knives. I think a leather sheath would do that knife right.

I started making a leather sheath for it, using some cut offs from a pair of Para boots I wore through. It's not going well

I'm going to get some decent leather especially for the task and try again. I just don't have the time at the moment - it's a good job the kydex sheath is so good.

I've used leather purses for their leather on sheaths but they are not ideal. Heavier weight leather is better as the purse leather is still a bit flimsy.

but for slip cases on pocket knives...I think you have a winner there! Leather purses at yard sales are usually cheap also!

I'm quite happy with the way this turned out. The sheath's style is a bit more flamboyant than I usually do, but it was designed to be a bit curvy so I could use it as part of the sheath-making demo in the February Fixie Challenge. Regardless, I like it.

Great job on making that sheath for your Dozier! And to be honest - I think that little bit of curve compliments the overall picture! It’s no longer a plain Jane looking sheath, this one has something say.

I like it so far.

I haven't been able to really test it out, since I'm in the aforementioned fixie challenge with my Ulu. I'm itching to give it a try, though.

I do wonder if I might have left the belt loop off and just used this as a pocket sheath. Even with the belt loop it slips into a pocket quite nicely. I cold see making a simple pocket sheath for this one, too. Maybe with a bit more handle sticking out.....
