Great work.

I know he is using at least 1 Delemont collection SAK
In the ep where he is pitted against a bomber and Jack gets chained up in a van with the bomb he uses the Wenger alligator wrench to setup the primer removal he failed at in a flashback to EOD training

Sry no pic or ep number
S2e12 mabey??
I used to be a lot of things, and someday will again.
But for now I'm just a lost jack of trades with neither mastery nor home. ~NoaIsumi

I'd say this is probably the best episode so far. Murdoc makes his debut here, and I must say I like what they've done with his character. The actor portraying him is great. We also get to see some character development with Bozer, as well as Nikki. Great episode, I hope there are more like this one.

Reply #26 on: October 17, 2018, 12:50:42 PM
And that's Season 1.

So, what do I think about the show?
Well, it's been interesting. When I first heard of a new MacGyver series, I imagined a series called S.A.M.,  with MacGyver's son being up for the job, and RDA mentoring him. For better or worse, this is essentially a reboot of the original series. We have a younger Angus MacGyver (yes, Angus was his name-o), Thornton is now a woman, and Jack Dalton is also younger, more athletic, and former Delta Force, though still 'charming', like the original.
Despite an explosion in the opening credits, the show did not start with a bang. Occasional silly TV science, abundant product placement, a few continuity errors, and plot holes of various sizes. And probably just as important, the inevitable comparison between the two series. A lot of people liked MacGyver, and hoped for something else. After a few episodes, it became clear that this was very different to what "MacGyver" meant to fans of the original series.

The bad
The new series tries very hard to be a lot of things at once:
A commercial for Swiss Army Knives, with constant, crystal clear stills of knives, with the Victorinox logo lingering on our screens for possibly far too long. Also, attempting to advertise multiple models through out the episode, we get continuity errors that even people less excited about these knives can spot. It also undermines the action, as the saks often factor into the plot.
A reboot of a beloved series. The writers cannot help themselves in including references to the original series, references so blatant, they come across as lazy. A character mentions something that fans will recognize from the original series, and we can almost see the writers wink at us. "Remember this little thing from the original?" Also, there are so many ties to the original, it feels awkward. Thornton is here, although a woman now, Bozer is here, Murdoc, Nikki. And everyone is young and fabulous. Even minor characters from the original make an appearance here, and quite a few plot points, though adjusted into a more or less new story.
A new series that people who do not know MacGyver was can still enjoy. Indeed, you can start watching this with no prior knowledge of MacGyver, and still be able to follow the story. Still, the tone is quite different. Here, MacGyver is even more of a legend, despite his young age. The tasks at hand have evolved into today's technological advances, and MacGyver is able to tackle all sorts of predicaments with an unnatural speed. A solution is presented as if time has stood still; bombs, villains, viruses, toxic gasses, free-fall, everything waits patiently and politely, until MacGyver has built his gizmo. The series is based around Mac finding materials and building things as he goes along, and I can accept that, but it takes him so little time, that it becomes a little off-putting at times. Along with this, it feels as if the characters know they're in a TV Series. Even at gun point, they spit out one-liners, puns or jokes. Sure, most of them are highly trained operatives, but even so, they take these serious moments so lightly, it almost makes it more of an action-comedy series, much more than they intended.
A new exciting action series. Man, talk about plot twists. Within the first season, there are a lot of things that are not how they appear. It almost takes away from the nice progression of the story. Also, every time MacGyver explains what he is doing just so we know, I feel I am watching MythBusters. Those text prompts they superimpose over components irritate me the most.

The good
The chemistry between characters is undeniable. They are friends, and it feels like that when watching them.
Jack was never a favorite of mine in the old series. The new Jack is a much better character. He is now an army veteran sniper, a highly trained soldier and field agent. He is also a father figure to Riley, and mentor of sorts to Bozer. He comes across as an extremely likable character, and George Eads' portrayal is one of the best aspects of the new show. He is a great actor.
Riley is also a great addition to the team. Another very likeable character. Sure, TV hacking and everything she does is a cliche nowadays, and not how real life works, but it does work in the series.
Murdoc was also revamped, and I like what the end result. Great movie villain.
To add to this, I like how there are more characters in this. The original had only MacGyver and Thornton as main characters. Everyone else appeared in far too few episodes in my opinion. Many good characters had potential that went unused. Here, the better Jack is in every episode, and Riley joins the team, Bozer is much more prominent, and we still have recurring characters to flesh out their world.
Also, remember those silly episodes of the original MacGyver? The racial stereotypes, the child actors? There's none of that here.
At some point, I laughed out loud a couple of times per episode, to jokes that were well placed, quick and witty, that did not harm the tone of the episode.
I am also a fan of where the series is going. There is a good amount of drama, character development, an overall story arc, good usage of characters.

I know people started this and just gave up on it, for their own reasons. Still, I can tell you it does improve. The product placement becomes less blatant, the characters become more likeable, the stories become more interesting, silly TV science gets toned down, and the quality of episodes picks up.

Well, I have probably rambled beyond your threshold of interest and attention. To sum up, this series started a bit rough around the edges, but things get better. Not everyone will like it. I did not like the first handful of episodes, but this is understandable, since universe building and introducing everything is not easy. Having finished Season 1, I am curious and even excited about Season 2, and also a little happy, relieved, and satisfied that it got renewed for a third season.

As for the show, I couldn't see more than the first episode  :P so can't comment much  :dunno:

As for that squared opening hole knife, I'd say it's a Gerber or SOG just because they are the two main companies using square thumb holes but I don't recognise that model  ???

The first handful of episodes are average. Nothing to write home about, and not much in terms of the overall story arc. Especially the third episode, that was pretty bad.
