Izula VS Izula II
on: September 30, 2018, 08:14:18 PM
I am just interested to see people's opinions on these two knives. The only difference is handle length. does it make that big of a difference in comfort? Does the I carry that much better on the neck and in the pocket than the II?

Not having handled an Izula I, I can only comment on the II. I would say the extra half inch on the handle makes a big difference for prolonged use. The Izula II is very comfortable to use (with the micarta scales) - The scales on the I don't go all the way to the end either so I would class it as a three fingered hold (depending on the size of your mitts obvs).

If you have a choice between the two of them I can't recommend the II highly enough. It would be the only small fixed blade I own if Nix hadn't sent me the sweet sweet Dozier

Hope this helps. Fantastic knives either way.  :tu:

Thanks  for your input! Have you tried pocket or neck carry at all with the handle of the 2?

I have an original Izula. (Izzy I)

It's a great little knife, and I'd recommend it without hesitation for a nice little necker......except the handle is a tad short.

So if you have to choose between the Izzy I and II, I'd go with the II.

Yes, it neck carries well, even better is a sort of 'round the neck under the arm' set up. It's also small enough to carry nicely in the pocket.  The sheath is excellent - great retention and very compact.

I'm happy to do any Izula II tests you want  :salute:

Thanks! I am waiting on a new payment card (stupid thieves), so I would love to read while I wait about any tips and tricks you recommend, how you feel about the scales, coating, how it handles different types of tasks, what you carry along with it, etc. Whatever you feel like telling me about it I will feel like listening to.

I have the Izula I and find the grip size just fine. I have scales that cover the hole that are the same as those I bought for my BK14. I can just get a 4 finger grip but usually just use 3 as my index finger is on the back of the blade. I like the smaller size.

Well ran into some extra funds that I didn’t know that I had, so an Izula 2 is on the way! The only thing I am nervous about is fitting it in a pocket.

The 2 is here! I feel like I chose a good sheath companion for it.

Took it out and tested it this morning. I wanted to see what it could do as well as smoothen out that rough coating a bit. Both tasks accomplished.

Sharpened it up afterwards on my sharpmaker and strop. It took a razor edge, and in about 10 minutes!
