I'm beginning to think Ray believes SAK stands for "Serial Apple Killer."

When we were stationed at Fairchild AFB, we lived next to a apple orchard...the owner was really great and let us go crazy there...one of my favorite memories.

WIth Tomica 102: Hitachi EH3500 ACII. One of the heaviest 3" models in my collection--it weighs the same, if not more than the Huntsman. It's personally one of my favorite pieces.

:like: it Cody!!  This has been a great time for me too!  I have come to realize that all I ever really needed in a SAK I had all along with my first one.  I have so many memories with this knife.  In all honesty, it's been more than I've needed in this challenge, but it's sure great to have along!

Day 28.

Evening duty: cut down several cartboardboxes so they fit into the bin.

2 more days to go... :salute:
If this is from work, is it a daily thing and if so how well does the SAK hold up on sharpness??? Just wondering.  :tu:
Nope, nothing work related. Just the leftovers from my Mrs. onlineshopping
While Victorinox X55CrMo14 is quite good to sharpen, cutting those cardboards dulls the blade really good. You can even feel the abrasion, after lots of cuts your blade gets warm. But after 5 minutes on a fine diamond stone its hair popping sharp again.

To be honest, if I had to cut lots of boxes on a daily basis at work, I wouldnt take a SAK with me. For me, a more wear resistant steel, a whancliff blade and a good handle would do the job better.

Like this idea and joined in a tiny little bit at the end.
Curious to know what the next challenge will be.
Hoping for an Explorer one, since I bought that one yesterday and expecting it this week…
Love to see what other people use their knives for.

BTW, see a lot of apples here. I'm always a bit careful with 'wet' stuff. Isn't that a problem, just rinse it of?

No problem if you dont soak your joints with something sticky.
SAKs are perfect for small cutting tasks that doesnt involve a lot of liquids or if that liquid can be "avoided" by clever cutting (eg cutting tomatos on a board).
If the cutting job would result in a mess (like butchering) I would not take any folder.

And if you did soak you sak with something juicy, warm water, drying and a drop of oil will solve any issue.

Yes, I just rinse it off and then dry the blade off. No problems, still smooth and snaps close.

:iagree: I have been careful when I rinse the blade to where I haven’t needed to oil yet.

Well Nix, as Blackadder might say, there's no such thing as a Cunning Plan Baldrick. And I'm playing Baldrick to Captain Barry "Blackadder" Rowland so watch this space ... in the meantime I've been for a trot round the woods near here and Lichen what I've seen (you can't beat a good pun can you?) ... especially my White Huntsman

Day 29
This is nearly the end of the Huntsman challenge.  I like the Huntsman but I really will be happy to carry my Champion again.  Meanwhile, how about some coffee? I took down an extra cup just in case.

Oh no Nix, not at all. By Baldricks Turnip I expect it to be the kind of Challenge that might dance around singing “Cunning Plans are here again”. But I’m not Captain Barry Blackadder!
