My first consignment of
Malco Eagle Grips
landed today. My initial impression is: wow!! These pliers are top-drawer, all-the-way. The fit-and-finish is impeccable. Just hefting-these; the quality is apparent. As good as, the 'original' vise-grips were, these are even better finish-wise. Every detail has been attended to, from the rivets, to the knurling on the adjustment knob: now oversized, and hardened. Here are the pics I promised, you be the judge. I have a 10" pair enroute with straight-jaws. In my opinion, you will not find a better-made American tool. The eagle has landed! Three cheers for
Malco
!!!

I ordered mine through Amazon. I'm assuming you can order by way of Amazon U. K., McStitch. I'm guessing, the pending patent is for the over-sized adjustment knob, improved-spring, and perhaps; the better, over-all finish on the tool. Which is an improvement over the older Petersen-versions.

Awesome stuff!!!
Unfortunately they won't ship to South Africa, even through Amazon. Will have to make do with my Irwin's, which are OK, but not to the same build quality of these new Eagles.

Awesome! GLad to hear they're even better quality than the originals. I have two Irwin (7WR and 6LN) that were multitools with knife blades and screwdrivers. They were both smurf. Same with a Crescent version. I have a very early 1950s 9R, as well as a couple of 6LNs, and a chain wrench (which comes in really handy changing oil filters!).
I noticed that some are already out of stock. I am hoping that this means eventually we will be getting 6LN and 5WR equivalents.

Malco, who made Eagle Grip and vise grips for Snap On, factory has closed, all employees laid off, tooling and machinery liquidated and property for sale.
This as of January 2024 according to toolguydDOTcom.
Never saw a single one in a big box store, or even the little local hardware stores where I used to find little gems like my 10 and 20 year old, NOS Buck Knives and Leathermans.
Reading the timeline it seems COVID was at a crescendo at the same time thier manufacturing was supposed to be. Dont know if that played into it.

Harry Epstein bought a bunch of the existing stock, lowered the price to about $30.

I'm also reading Snap-On may have bought the tooling and I'd making these. Where, I'm not sure

CP the tool addict says Snap On announced buying the tooling for these and moving production. Up to Wisconsin. Malco made these for SnapOn and they went for $80. I figure that'll be the new price, if you can get them from a truck
