OG Wave hacksaw mod WIP
on: October 13, 2018, 04:33:10 PM
Largely still a work in progress...

Fitted a saw adapter onto a OG wave... still waiting for the Ganzo scissor to complete the mod... After the picture was taken... I realise the OG is not very much smaller than the Gen 2 wave.. in fact it feels somewhat heavier....

Looking good.  Was it any harder to fit the BE in the OG Wave than the new one?

The way the OG wave locks is very much different the current wave series.. They do not have a "rear stop" for their outside tools. They depend on this weird-ish square studs to prevent the tools to extend backwards.. Not sure if I explained logically..  I do not know the names for the parts.. Unless with access to welding tools, making/replacing something for the outside tools will be very difficult.. Have to make a rear stop for the BE..

You've explained it well.  I'm glad LM offers the replaceable cutters to the Wave, not they've got to add the blade exchanger.  Then it'll really be a mini surge.

Some more fittings done. Just another project to see what is doable. Realised its not quite sensible to work on a OG wave as the Gen 2 is much easier to work with and more capable. Fun project nonetheless.

As always, that looks like something LM should be copying. :)

Thanks guys. LM probably wouldn't do it. It will be difficult to draw the line between a wave and surge size tool. Though I always wished they would make a surge quality scissors on a wave platform..

It was intended for a sog. But the OG wave uses a same size pivot on the blades. So it's one problem solved.

Would you happen to have any more pictures of the scissors and their fitting process?  :like:

Pic says a thousand words. Here u go. The liner engages. Should have done the same for the blade exchanger side. Initial plan on the BE side didn't work out. So it kinda complicated now.
