A bit of a story
on: October 15, 2018, 08:30:43 PM
This is one that even my son doesn't know. Mods if this needs to be moved feel free, I posted here because it is about my SAK.
When I was growing up, not sure how old, my dad was friends with one of the WWII Flying Tiger pilots. Dad and I would meet him in the local greasy spoon for coffee whenever he came through town. He kept me fascinated with stories about the Flying Tigers, & the P40 Warhawk became one if not my altime favorite airplane. I wish I could remember some of his stories or even his name.
That is the reason when I saw that Victorinox had a Warhawk Champ I had to have one. My favorite knife &  airplane rolled into one. I carry this knife everyday now.   :climber:

Just a small personal observation.  ...........I would not be at all surprised that when God created the Earth & the heavens, that the SwissChamp was the tool he used. .............. :hatsoff:

I saw those Vics with the Warhawk scales, but for the life of me, I can't remember where I saw them.

Nice story. I like the P40 too and it's nose (or perhaps I should say chin) lended itself well to the shark's mouth.
We called them Kittyhawks here. My grandad used to service them on Guadalcanal.

Kittyhawk is also correct, an earlier version of the same plane.

Good stuff,  thanks for sharing.   I'll share one more that's from my childhood memories.   CB radio became a big deal  during the mid to late 70's and Butch got right in there with the rest of the world.  I tell this because El-C's autocorrect gave me a good laugh from some fond memories of my own.  You see back then Buth was known around the CB world as "Butcher". :pok: :pok:
