Antique self adjusting wrench.

Due to Yaddas self adjusting pliers thread it made me think about one of the tools I will never even think about getting rid of, my antique self adjusting wrench. It’s made by Masterench in Turlock, CA in the 1920’s. I’m not positive on the exact date on this one, but do know its most Likely made before 1927. I could be wrong but I believe Heller took over production of the Masterench around that time and moved production to Newark, NJ. I see Heller Masterenches marked with a 1927 pat. date. It appears the Turlock version is the harder version to find (much harder) as I only see about 1 Turlock, CA per 100 Newark, NJ. The Turlock versions are around but you may be looking for a while to find one in suitable condition. The Heller versions can be had easily and quite often very well priced if your interested. I hear they are still excellent tools to use still to this day. I have been meaning to buy a Heller to use. I’m no stranger to Turlock, CA so it’s a cool piece for me!

Nice, I had the same identical thing but they were new, I guess that’s where they got the idea from.. I wanna say they were craftsman..

Awesome! I’m hooked on them! I want to get a Heller to use, but am going to focus on the Turlock, CA versions to collect.

Two different types Hex and pipe versions with size starting at 6 inches and going to 18 inches and possibly larger. Sizes over 14 inches are considered rare.
