Kershaw A100. Another One off the List
on: October 20, 2018, 02:31:18 AM
A HUGE thanks to CeHo for getting this gorgeous piece of MT history into my hands. He is one of the most kind and conscious people I have ever interacted with. I just wanted to mention that specifically. I've had great experiences with users here, but CeHo was a standout interaction. The tool is exactly as he specified and absolutely awesome. I had never even seen an A100 in person, so having a pristine example as my first is awesome. THANK YOU, CeHo! :salute:

So, as of today, the A100 is crossed off my list of grail tools. :woohoo:

Oh, I almos forgot.

I can honestly say that it lives up to the hype. I didn't expect the level of fit and finish on the A100 that is has (at least the one I received). If you find one for sale at a reasonable price, it is a great collection piece.  :)

+1

I was also pleasantly surprised when I held it in my hands for the first time (and yes pfrsantos, that's what she said  ;)).

It's a great piece of multitool history, but it's a great tool as well.  And the fit and finish on the one that I got was also perfect.   I read that this one predates the Crunch, and that it was the first multitool with a OHO blade, long before the Wave.

I'm happy for you that you had the chance to add it to your collection .

Thank you, Top-Gear!

Indeed, he OHO blade is a first and executed very well. The jaws have the least play(as in none with the a100) I've ever seen on looking pliers as well. :iagree:

yes, what a nice vintage tool is that... :multi:

the A100 is built tough, solid, and sturdy
designed well, strong, and very precise
you can debate whether it looks purdy
but you can tell that it's worth its price

I've been trying to locate one thing that isn't just-right on the one I have. Can't seem to find anything.  :multi:

I've been trying to locate one thing that isn't just-right on the one I have. Can't seem to find anything.  :multi:

I've had a couple of A100/Craftsman 45516's with broken/missing screws ( I think the factory may have over-tightened them at original assembly).

A more common fault is corrosion on the metal saw (it is obviously made of different metal).  However Craftsman made a repair kit  (45517) which included a replacement metal saw (and other tool components)

yeah my metal saw is rusted,
and my blade pivot got busted,
but, this tool I have trusted,
since so well was it crafted    8)

Thank you, gentlemen! I am going to go put a coat of protective oil on the saw blade, since it looks brand new right now. :)
