I do love the clip in that one and the sharpener looks to do a great job at putting a nice point on it as well :like:

I like the idea of having the sharpener in the cap :tu:
And like Poncho said it’s doing a good job
with putting a nice point on the graphite

Day 27
The Huntsman and the Koh-I-Noor 5321. Another short 5.6mm clutch pencil. The black and gold is what caught my attention to this one. The clip design, like the 5311, was a nice touch on it. This has a very unique body design on it, with a different type shape I hadn’t seen before. Kinda reminds me of a short, fat cigar. Topedo style, I think is what they call it? In real life, I don’t use this one at all. Once or twice, and hasn’t see any more use. The main reason is the clip. It sits way to low. To much sits above the shirt pocket and moves to much from the weight that is above the shirt pocket. Pick something up off the floor or ground and other items in your pocket will fall out. It is a heavy pencil. And I like heavy as I have said in other posts, but this one is 1.83 ozs or 52.1 grams. My Ivanhoe comes in at 1.42 ozs or 40.2 grams.

I can’t see what would be the advantage
of the clip being where it is  :dunno:

I don’t either.  :dunno:  It was one I had ordered online and had I handled it at the store, I would have passed on it. But this one came from Russia and with a lot of great other stuff I just kept it. And I think I paid under $15 for it new in the box, so I wasn’t out a lot of money.  :tu:

It’s a nice pencil just not for pocket carry
I would just use it at home  :tu:

Day 28
The Huntsman and the Cretacolor Ecologic 430 12. This is another 5.6mm clutch pencil with a wooden body and made in Austria. They are very nice clutch pencils. The design of this body allows you to grip very close to the front making a familiar grip all the time. With the middle finger resting on the inside of the grove it is even comfortable. With a wooden body it is popular with those who prefer wooden to metal bodies. My son is in the wood camp. He says it feels warm and metal is cold. I can see his point, and he is right. With me if it holds graphite, I will pretty much like it.
Thought you might enjoy seeing what I do carry my stuff in. I finally settled in with a case I found at our supply house in Atlanta before I retired. It is a Klein Tools case for meters or whatever you want. Needless to say, its not work tools! It is just big enough to carry everything you need except large paper. I like my Moleskine notebooks. So everything fits inside.

Yes they are very comfortable and a size that fits all hands - young and adult.
Yes, definitely for art. Any 5.6mm graphite will do...even the Magic graphite. That’s what is so great about clutch pencils. You find one you really like, you can use any graphite hardness or color you want in it.
I have a piece of spalted maple that I will be turning into a clutch pencil in the near future. And if it turn out really good, giving it to my son.  :tu:

Day 29 + 0 = 30
Yes I planned that...
The Huntsman and the Staedtler Mars 780. This is your basic mechanical drafting pencil. This is the type that I used in school and the clutch pencil has been with me since. It is a 2mm graphite pencil. It is kinda sad that CAD has taken over. We are always improving the tools we use and many times it is a good thing. The calculator replaced the slide rule. GPS has replaced the compass. It may not be the new but there is never any thing wrong with the old.
Staedtler is another very old company. 1850’s till now and still going strong today. The pencil sharpener for the drafting pencils has always been cool. The metal desk top ones are the best but these small compact plastic ones are just as good. The lettering guide is a tool that is nice in that you can set it for the size of the lettering. From one position you can have one to several lines.

Yes it’s a shame that we now use CAD
I enjoy making technical drawings  :tu:

Nowadays I only use technical
drawings at home for my own work  :D

Still great pencils :tu: I have a few of that model and I believe the one I used so much originally was the same model  :like:

You need to start a lead holder/clutch pencil thread :ahhh  because when this challenge is over I will miss seeing all these neat pencils :ahhh perhaps in the Gadget Freak and EDC Forum :dd:

Just a thought  :D
