I’m after something to sharpen our dull and chipped kitchen knives. Would this do or would you recommend something else?

Are these diamond stones better than Japanese water stones?

Dumb question, are you supposed to clean sharpening stones like these? If so, how?
And do they have a limited lifespan?

Waterstones dish after a while, and you have to flatten them. These don't have that problem. Also, they'll sharpen harder knives than the waterstones.

Nothing lasts forever, Pabs  :D They do have a decent working life, so long as you're patient with them, and don't use too much pressure. As for washing them, hot water and dish soap would do, but I don't tend to bother. Just wash the knife after sharpening.

but if you do put them away dirty after sharpening carbon steel the dust on them will rust  :whistle:
