The Ten Ounce & Up MT Club! 10oz+ MultiTools
on: November 03, 2018, 04:45:53 AM
Yeah, that gerledbetter guy has made a new collector's club thread. What is it this time?  :dunno:
Ten ounce tools+. :D
They don't necessarily need to be heavy duty tools, they just need to be very close to and over ten ounces. Personally, I feel 9.75oz is essentially 10oz in real-world usage. Move along if your ears are twitching from OCD about the 9.75oz being 10oz thing. :pok: :D
Here are a bunch of mine. 9.75oz and up. :)

SOG:
PowerGrab - 9.982oz.
BlackTip - 10.007oz.

Gerber:
Center-Drive - 9.841oz.
Grappler - 10.476oz.
Freehand - 13.058oz.

Leatherman:
SuperTool - 10.074oz.
Core - 10.278oz.
MUT - 10.807oz.
Surge - 12.173oz.

SwissTool - 9.788oz.
Mossy Oak - 9.933oz.
Sheffield 12020 - 10.437oz
H.B. Smith - 10.691oz.
Roxon S801 - 10.987oz.
CRKT Technician - 11.823oz.
WorkPro Heavy Duty - 13.845oz.

Who else finds heavy MTs cool? :)

I did forget the humble 800 Legend.  :ahhh
It just doesn't feel heavy in hand, which is one of the best things about the 800. The same is true for the OHT (that marko14 posted).  :)

I have bought many tools, but the Surge remains at the top of the heap for durability, versatility, style, customization and function.  :)
I can't really imagine a better rounded multitool. I'd carry one even if it were 16oz.  :)

I'm not a big guy myself, but splay doesn't normally bother me, unless it is ridiculous like the Gerber Suspension trying to grip a 1/2" nut. Only a few of the tools I pictured have ridiculous splay in practical usage. The CRKT Technician, H.B. Smith, and Workpro HD have wider than necessary splay when gripping certain things(my subjective observations and experiences of course). :ahhh

WorkPro Heavy Duty - 13.845oz.

  :o  :ahhh
Now that's a multi-tool! :hatsoff:
It's a beast of a tool. The handles are absurdly thick. Why they're thick? Not sure, because the pliers are kind of "not heavy duty" looking. All outboard tools with four being OHO is cool though. It's another $40 China tool that is almost great, but something went wrong in the execution of the engineer's design.

Does this count?  :D
Yes. Yes it does. Multi tool and 10oz+. :)

Ooooooohhhh, that reminds me. I have a couple of fixed plier tools that may qualify. Will post pics at some point. I know the Coast Pro Pocket Mechanic is 10 or 100. :)

I am shocked everytime I put the Chen on the scale. It is 8.846oz. But, it feels like an 11oz tool in hand.

Must have an anti-gravity generator hidden within the spring cavity. :D
