My favorite Buck
on: November 03, 2018, 09:42:34 PM
As some of you know I sell knives in a flea market setting a few times a year. Because of that I buy TSA confiscated knives 25 to 30 pounds at a time. Never know just what might be in there. A few years ago when I first started, this little Buck showed up with a broken point. I laid it aside and it sat for several months. One day I decided to fix it. I recontoured the blade & liked it so much I decided to keep it. Using it here to cut a couple of short pieces of paracord for a small project. I has been a joy to use and outside of my champs it is my most used knife. I have many Bucks but this is my favorite.. A comparison photo is included so you can see the new contour.

Awarded.   :tu:

Just goes to show that fancy steels, locks, handles etc don't necessarily make the knife great.

The one you use trumps all the ones you don't IMO.

Thank you and you are very correct, several of my fancy Bucks are shelf Queens. When the cutting starts this is my go to knife.

They're nice Butch.

I especially like the orange Buck-lite.

Congrats.

Congrats Butch! I love my 110, it's my main belt knife and almost never gets left behind, I've had it everywhere from Boston to the equator to the Panama canal, it's become a trusted friend :like: :like:

I have a few 110s, they are wonderful knives, Buck makes a bunch of classics. Not a bad knife among them. The Vantage, the 055, The Bantam, and so many more fixed and folders alike. :multi:

The Buck Packlite 141 was the first new knife I bought in many-many years, IIRC that would've been in 2009.

I'd just moved to a small mining town with a river 20km away where I spent a lot of time....

I did nymphing (fly fishing) in the rapids so I had all my stuff in a dry bag on my back. Already carried a ferro rod after loosing a lighter on another trip.....still smoked then.

Realised at some point a knife might also be a good idea, and this skeleton knife caught my attention.  For what it is the ergos is pretty good, and for what I knew and used the knife for, 420HC is more than good enough.

Not on my radar at all anymore, but Buck is a pretty good company IMO  :salute:
