New EDC light recommendation?
on: November 08, 2018, 05:48:34 AM
Been searching and searching for a new light to keep on the side of my Leatherman Sheaths. (In the Elastic Loop) hardest part is figuring out true dimensions when sites include metric, imperial, and combinations of the two with typos.

Honestly my Fenix E12 is really close,

1) I really want a clip.
2) Another inch or so longer would be nice, it's kinda hard to slide and in and out of sheaths.

Going brighter would be awesome, which brings up batteries.

18650/cr123 would probably be too large on diameter to fit in the sheaths?

Possibly 2xAA or a longer 1xAA?

Wouldn't have a problem with rechargable built in battery as well.

I'm all for simple, I may just try adding a decent lanyard to my E12. Would at least help with pulling it out.

Olight I3T EOS?

Olight I3T EOS?
Love that light, carry mine all the time.
It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

Looks like that Olight might be the way to go!

I put a lanyard on my E12 today and it's SO much easier to get it out faster, but trying to slide it back in requires me to use both hands and even then it's a pain.

Might get easier once the elastic wears in?

Look what came today!

It's in the sheath, fits much better, brighter than my Fenix for sure. I've also noticed my Fenix flickering.

Wish it was a tiny bit longer, may add a lanyard to this one as well.

Couple days in so far. Don't know how I lived without a light that has a pocket clip for so long!

The light slides perfectly in and out of the sheath without the need for 2 hands.

The flood is very impressive, wish I could order a deeper cone for it for some throw.

My suggestion is too wide I think... I carry a Streamlight 1L-1AA... it's a bit thicker than the Olight...

try cleaning the threads and reapply silicon lube, also clean the battery contact points in the head and tailcap with rubbing alcohol.

I am so grateful to have stumbled upon this topic - perfect timing... actually I wish I had landed here a couple days ago, having spent (too much) time searching for a EDC flashlight to fit a Leatherman sheath. As a committed Leatherman man, I'd been limiting my search to the LedLenser brand, without success. I read on this forum that Leatherman sold LedLenser a few months ago so my loyalty to LedLenser went out the window.

With my new found freedom and the above discussion and photos, I have ordered the Olight i3T EOS. Looking forward to receipt of said flashlight.

Thanks for the guidance!

Greg
