Holiday Gift Sets
on: November 11, 2018, 09:06:49 AM
Its that time again; time for the stores to put out their gift sets.
So I decided to kick off the roundup.
Everybody feel free to add stuff as you find it

So the 1st branded set of the year(that Ive seen) is a Maglight/Gerber combo at a Houston area Walmart. I have pictured it along side my VicTrekker for size. They seem to like Maglight this year.
We also have some gerbers, oldtimers, and an all new (and fully stocked) knife case lineup

The rest of the display sofar is the mixed hardware dept generics you see year round repackaged...but it is still early.

Was at Wal-Mart yesterday and even in Sporting Goods but didn't notice anything yet  I may just not have been observant enough though  Thanks for the heads up :like:

Lowe's has a Leatherman/Gerber display with Leatherman Sidekicks and Gerber Gator Machete Jr and the Suspension with Paraframe combo.

The printed their own signage that has Leatherman and Gerber logos on the display, it was unusual. Usually they have standalone Leatheman display.

Home Depot doesn't have any Leatherman display so far, but already put out their Holiday displays as well.

The local Home Depot did have the Gator machete jr and paraframe combo, as well as just the Gerber Suspension. Nothing at Lowe's, which incidentally is now slated for closure as well as the local Rona that Lowe purchased a while back. I remember when Lowe's came to town back in 2015...saying that is just what this city needs...another freaking hardware store. Guess a lot of folks thought the same.
A little Leatherman information.

I just hate seeing those prices... We don't get most of those toys and the ones we do are 5x that...

Can't order from the US either, because they put outrageous shipping fees on them (some ppl on Ebay are running a smurfing scam with this, I swear)...

And THEN you have to add tax and customs fees (Both of which have the insane shipping cost calculated in)

Seriously, I've seen 20$ items have 60$ shipping costs, and they were not huge/heavy items, just tools.

So I'm guessing some sellers are undervaluing their tools, to get more sales, and then  scamming with shipping costs  :twak:

My local stores don't have that stuff out yet.  They're probably waiting for black Friday :dunno:

I saw the Walmart display yesterday and they have the Ozark Trail stuff out and the Mag Light sets, but they do not have any of the Schrade stuff out yet.  Saw some Leatherman Sidekicks and Gerber Suspensions at Lowes but the prices were not that great.  I haven't been to Home Depot yet.

Another Walmart set. This one is a Camillus gift pack 19.97usd
The hatchet looks like the one from last year done in tan instead of black...but at least you don't risk stabbing yourself using it the way you did with that bearded thing that they offered 2 years ago (In case you dont remember see pic3 with the ST300 for refrence)

It is still early and I havent gotten to check out anywhere else. Hopefully the knife gift offerings will pick up after Thanksgiving & Black friday.

I almost forgot O-light is offering a Free I3e to all registered coustomers on their sight for Black friday...see video in link
