Is it 93 or 100mm - That narrows it down a bit

100mm with Clip Point blade.
So 1930-1950.
The missing Year Stamp is of no use or does that just mean that it wasnt made for army issue but later used (because of WK-Stamp)?

There's a tinder thread in the outdoor subforum, if you're interested.
Cotton balls with petroleum jelly are quite common. Birch bark and fatwood are nice, but you can't find them everywhere.

Very interesting and wonderful example.

I sure hope the experts come along to help.

The tools look to be stainless?
The W stamp and no date on tang are confusing to me.  Knives were stamped after 1921 (?) for soldiers use.  Also most if not all issued to soldiers were carbon steel 1920-1950 except for private use, which were stainless and no W stamp.  Those had a P stamped on the blade.

Your example is in wonderful shape.  I hope my info is somewhat correct but more so I hope the experts come in and educate us all.

I've not seen from my research the tang stamp like yours.  I've only seen Elsener Schwyz tang stamp 1920-1950 100mm knives.

Could you please take a closer picture of the control stamp please?

Could be a repair job on that blade which could answer why no date stamp ?

These pics are as good as my phone camera can take them. Above a comparison with a 1959 Model. Size difference should be clear.
Repai might be an option. Blade looks used but good for its possible age.

Possible blade change repair but you would expect to see another  +  stamped on the scale, it does look like SS but could also be polished CS?  whatever it is it's a very nice knife, good score  :tu:
Edited because i cant read..

The control stamp is the later one.  Its certainly a 100mm knife.  Great pics BTW.

Where are the experts?

Where are the experts?
Good question. I'm not an expert, but I do know that this SAK is a civilian version of a model 1908 soldier knife. "Real" model 1908 soldier knives are made of carbon steel and usually have year stamps (unless they are from before 1921). I also know that the canonical source for information about soldier knives is https://www.couteaux-du-soldat-suisse.ch/J01/index.php/en/
In particular, they have a page with interesting information about civilian versions of soldier's knives. Now here comes the intriguing part: if you look at the last image on this page, you can see two such civilian versions of model 1908 soldier knives. One of them (number 2) looks exactly like the SAK of this thread (same tang stamp on the front, no tang stamp on the back, WK control stamp in the usual location). You may notice that this SAK is claimed to be from the range of years 1954-1960. On the other hand, as noted above, the range of years that is assigned to this tang stamp in Ulli's table is 1930-1950.

So who is right?   I have absolutely no idea, but if anyone knows, I'll be happy to read it here.
