Adding Scissors to a Soldier or SI
on: November 30, 2018, 11:39:12 PM
So I'm still a modding rookie, and I had this idea to add scissors to a Soldier/SI and make a Soldier X, or maybe even modify it further to be a 93 mm Voyageur-alike.

I understand from other threads that the scissors on a Pioneer X are identical to those used on 91 mm cellidor-scaled SAKs.  I have lots of 91 mm donor SAKs, so no problem there.   But obviously the backspring would not be the same going from a 91 mm setup to a 93 mm setup.

Is there another spring that will work?  I seek the wisdom and guidance of more experienced modders.

Thanks!

Myron

I'm no expert but I think the easiest way to go would be to use a Pioneer X as a donor.

Get the silver PX and grind off the keyring nub and you would have a Soldier X  :D

Thanks guys.

So if you wanted to make a 93 mm Voyageur-alike using a Vx Soldier or Wenger S.I. as a base, you could start with a Pioneer X for sure.    For the combo opener tool, could I use one from a 91 mm SAK?  Would it fit the 93 mm frame without looking weird, etc.?

Thanks,

Myron

Perhaps a much more experienced SAK modder than me can answer this questions much more eloquently than me  :D

You’ll have to drill the pivot hole to 3mm, but I think the 91mm combo tool will fit in place of the awl. :)
Hooked, like everyone else. ;)

All hail the hook!

You can use a combotool from a 91mm and you just have to drill it out like previously stated for 3mm and use a pioneer x for scissors that was also mentioned.  And you’ll have a voyageur.

Pioneer Solo backspring can work as scissors backspring with a little mod... I know someone shared it here in the forums but can’t remember exactly where...
