Found new use for Lthrmn Surge
on: December 29, 2018, 04:23:32 AM
My Surge keeps winning the day! Details: The small but aggressive smurf Mill File that comes with the Leatherman Surge fits in tighter spaces. Going to add to my list of things to always bring to PickNPull: a good aggressive file, probably a smurf Mill File. For when I round off a bolt or nut trying to loosen it. If accessible you can often file down two opposing sides of the bolt/nut to get good sized flat spots for channel locks/ vise grips maybe even a C Clamp or smaller wrench to grab & loosen. Pre soaking in penetrating oil like Liquid Wrench for as long as possible also helps. Have a wire brush handy to keep the threads clean too when needed. *Edit: I didn't call it a smurf file lol its auto changing b-astard to Smurf

Im very happy with it. I even got the little Chapman  rachet to try that Surge/Chapman spade bit hole making trick on YouTube (got to find my spade bits!). So far my main complaint is the spring (liner spring?) on the scissors has failed so now they no longer spring open. Ive heard others have this problem too. For that reason when I work I usually carry my Roxon Storm instead because scissors are important when I jerry rig dust containment systems and other stuff for my woodworking gigs

You normally have to open the
scissors a bit for the spring to lock in place :tu:

Yes you end up having to push them just a bit harder for the spring to engage ::) it is a bit harder than it should be IMO though :ahhh

The SURGE!!!! is a really great tool though :like:
