Sog AUS8 is sharp
on:
December 03, 2018, 03:54:54 PM
This weekend I ran my Sog Flash quickly on a Lansky blade medic or what it's called, on the ceramic hone.
And today I got to feel just how sharp I got it.
Slipped a little and it sliced trough skin like nothing.
A quick 3 hour wait at the emergency room and 4-5 strips later I'm good as new(almost), still need to heal up though.
Atleast it wasn't too serious, just a mess.
And I've learned how not to cut a protective hose thingy.
No pics though, just cleaned the knife and put it back in my pocket.

Ouch man!
Glad it wasn't any worse than it was. Gotta be careful with nicer SOG blades.
They are absurdly sharp before they get touched up. My Trident Elite is that way.
Take care of that cut, RF!

Thanks gerleatherberman
It looked a bit scary at first when I could see down in to my finger before it got flooded, but it was just a flesh wound.
Now I'm just gonna relax a bit so it sticks back together and heal up and I'm good to go.

I have gifted blood to my knives a fair few times.
Happy healing.

Glad to hear it wasn't serious....we were made to heal fortunately
I learned about H&S working at mines....ad nauseam, but making knives and now working afternoons in an engineering shop......we are so close to danger all the time......

Thanks everyone
I'm thinking that since I use a knife several times a day, I should expect a little love bite now and then

Yeah it happens. Bummer when it does and especially since we handle knives a lot.

Every SOG knife I have, or have handled, has been wicked scary sharp right out of the box and held that edge long enough to apply for a pension. I'm pretty sure they use some kind of Voodoo or Black Magic on them when they sharpen them. There's no other explanation for it. Glad you're on the mend.

Thanks
I think it's better to cut yourself on a sharp blade then having a dull blade tear open wound so there's that atleast.
