Nice Fisherman Ray! :like:

This is mine for Hoff Wednesday:

Post +PAT c. '72 Hoffritz Outdoorsman ... Could be one of the non +PAT late '60s, because it has a scissor liner that looks earlier than other knives I have from the c. '72 range. Otherwise, this would indicate when (c. '72) Victorinox stopped stocking this type of liner in the typical fashion that Hoffritz knives often have discontinued parts. It's relatively rare since it is only used with new-style and non-LNF scissors when it is adjacent to the opener layer.  I think this liner was created because the 'full' liners made it a bit crowded and took too much clearance away with the new style scissors and openers.

Not the best condition and I need to get to the cleaning and light misc. repairs on this one. Missing the right tweezers.
I like that serrated blade! Looks good from here, the liners are nice and clean...not build up or corrosion  :like: :tu:

 Thanks, Ray. It's pretty good, but the serrated blade has a tip bend and the pruner edge has some nasty twisting and missing the tip.  And the whole thing hasn't been cleaned at all since I've owned it. I was just side-by-side viewing it with a near-mint Hoffritz Picnicker/Campingmesser so it's gonna seem filthy compared.  Everything matches that one and not the other earlier Hoff +PAT / no shackle Picnicker. So I'm pretty sure this one *is* c. '72 and not more than +/- 1 full year.

Yeah, a side by side will find flaws in the cleanest knives. No hiding there!  :tu:

Fixed some of the damage on that Outdoorsman after we were discussing it:

Serrated blade
Before:

After:

Pruner blade
'front' Before:

After:

(back) Before:

After

I should have taken some shots facing the edge. Sharp line reflections are more of what I use to evaluate the waviness and where to hammer.

Both are pretty sharp despite the nicks.  Not planning on sharpening it just yet.

 Thanks, Ray. I'm happy with the work so far. Still needs a good cleaning though.

I think this is a Handy Boy. There's a nice patina on the nickel silver liners.

Also in the wooden tool chest was my pencils and fly typing stuff! And my pillow

I’m thinking 3 or 4 months...might be able to get down on a 3 day holiday weekend! See what happens!

'75 D11061 TRAVELER (Climber):

This is the earliest HOFFRITZ inlay scale that I have. Magnetic inlays, black scissor spring and H/VSSR tang stamps, etc. verify '75 construction.  All Hoffritz tang stamps after this are H/SSR, so knives with both the inlay and these tang stamps are relatively rare.
