Your production choices seem.....limited.

How about an Ambassador or Executive? (74mm)

Or....a Compact. Sweet SAK. No nail tool, but there is a nail file on the hook.   :tu:

Mountaineer. Metal file works double duty as a large nail file. Even comes in White.

I'd go Compact and meet the file requirement with the back of the hook.  Although 91 mm is in your spec, it can be a bit big for carrying unless it's going to live in a handbag or something.

If you are able to modify a SAK, you could take a Cadet, remove the opener layer and replace it with a scissors layer instead.  That would make a very cool SAK for anyone to carry.

Good luck,

Myron

The Alumnus is one that fits the criteria, but sadly discontinued.

How about a 58mm size?  Most variations have scissors and nail files.

IMO, if she is not either, into Sak's or actually needs a 84/91mm sak and the opener layer, id recommend highly the Executive. I gave my Executive to my wife years ago and she uses it every day, especially scissors and file. Best nail file on a sak imo.

My wife Loves the SwissCard. I gave her a choice of a few SAK's and the Card won hands down. Good scissors and decent nail file.

Second that, especially with the SwissCard Nailcare...
It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

Beware the new ones have a pretty agressive file. Definitely not suitable for finger nails.

If it is possible, why not take her to a knife store with a good selection, and let her find the one she likes. She might surprise you on what she picks.

Just to give you an idea of the Executive look:

Interesting question, one I haven't answered myself.
I started out with a 58mm, but after using my Handyman a few times her demands for size changed in favour of the tools.
Currently my bet is on a Compact, with the nailfile on the back of the hook. Granted, it's not as easy to use as a full sized nailfile.
And the files on the Excecutive and Classic are very good as well.

I also like the suggestion of @microbe. The Mountaineer may be an option for my GF.
The only problem now is that she really wants pink scales...

Good luck on your quest. Let us know what you ended up with.

Beware the new ones have a pretty agressive file. Definitely not suitable for finger nails.

Lightly does it, although it tends to leave a rather rough finish. For emergencies, I feel. OK for thick toenails, though!

In my experience, as far as fingernail filing goes, regular nail files as found on 58mm, 85mm, and the Sportsman are superior to the full size files intended for heavier duty: they are gentler and easier to use. They work well on plastics, too.

I think the Executive's file is smoother than the one in 58mm models. Very effective but still smoother.

Thanks for the suggestions. An Ambassador it is with a small flashlight attached with a fancy chain. I think it is perfect for her.
