No, it's just for bats.
So whats the use of making the bats comfortable? Is it only for bat conservation or also for insect control?
Wow you can get quality organic fertilizer in that tower! :D

Just for bat conservation.  Bats can be rare around here so they are being protected.
I'm back!!

I found it interesting as well.  :)  I asked Mike to climb the tree next to it to see what it was like from above but for some reason he wasn't keen.  :D

I like the little pippiwotsit jobs, they're very cute (for bats).  Last time i went camping we were surrounded by bats each evening.

We have the odd bat flying around our house, no idea where they live but we get glimpses of them in the garden every now and then. Crazy little creatures really :)

I was outside the city walls! just :)

Bloody thing just flew down and slapped me round the face a bit and buggered off.  I bet all his mates thought it was right funny! Probably videoed it on their Bat Phone.  Oh wait, that's big red and flashes.  Maybe not then :D

I'm not too concerned Donald, it was a while ago and my behaviour and mental state seem just fine  :ahhh

Sort of "Happy Batty Slapping" you mean? I'll keep checking youtube :D

Bats are a protected species over here at the moment. A friend of mine bought a house recently, and the surveyor mentioned finding bat droppings somewhere. Apparently you can't get rid of them, you have to build a "bat box" and wait for them to move in there instead. They have more rights than us  ???

We did a bit of researching about it, and it's true they can carry rabies, but only something like 0.01% of UK bats carry it, and it's mostly not contageous apparently. We're pretty lucky in this country for that sort of thing.

I would have loved to see one giving Neil a kicking though  :D
I used to come here a lot.

That bat tower looks like a WWII mini fortress, they were built mostly to control the mosquito population and prevent disease spread.

You have to think of the mental image that you would make if you hadn't seen it live....

I can sort of see your face, with the bat ducking, diving and jabbing, whilst muttering, "c'mon, you think your hard do ya?", whilst all of it's bat mates were sititng on the city Wall shouting, "Fight, Fight, Fight"......

I need to get out more don't I?  :-\
