compact super lite plus?
on: December 16, 2018, 06:48:53 AM
So I decided to make my old man a mod Sak for Father's Day.

Over several months I asked what would be his ideal Swiss Army knife. There was some debate back and fourth and I was surprised by the tools he thought were not very useful. So I the end I decided to pack as much into one knife that I could.

I don't think I've seen this perticular tool set on a Sak. So may I present the "compact super lite plus"

Toothpick
Tweesers
Pin
Corkscrew driver
Pen
Hook
Nail file
Corkscrew
Scissors
Lite with new 2000mcd led (eg. Super bright)
Phillips driver
Combo tool
Knife.

I think it will go over well.

Thanks.

I planned on making a cybercompact. Buf according to my old man, he thinks the lite will get much more use. .

I might have to make one for myself.

Thanks for the kind words.

Ive noticed that the led layer doesn't seem get much recognition. I think it's because the stock LED is weak (at least on the older ones I have). So I just put in the brightest led you can buy and it seems to work much better.

I think the old man will like it.

So I changed my mind and gave the old man his sak for xmas.
He was puzzled...as he's not one to carry a knife typically. I also added a dangler clip for easy pocket carry.

With some haste I explained all the tools, and that is is somewhat custom.
Not too much reaction.

By day 2 he had opened so many grandkid gifts, everyone started to simply ask him to open them up.
He had to change batteries, cut wires, cut zip ties, and even look under the couch with the light.

By day 3 I noticed the dangler clip on his pocket..

By day 4...he was saying that he was surprised just how useful it was to have a knife handy.

I think we have convert.

This looks yummy!

I thought in-line philips HAD TO be used (i.e. countered) with a magnifying glass, though?

Not really ddogu... you'll find a layer having a phillips and magnifying glass on a SwissChamp and a layer with a magnifying glass and a light on the Cybertool Lite. Stands to reason you can build a layer with a Phillips and a light  :pok: :D

The Spartan lite has a led and Phillips opposite.

That's where I got the led for this build.

It's a compact with a layer from a Spartan lite ( upgraded) .

Can you elaborate on this? Did you use a particular light, was it a certain piece of the light that you swapped or the whole thing, did it fit right in?

I used a 20000mcd 3mm white led.

Once the light is removed you simply remove the led. Bend the wires and replace. It's pretty simple.

I think the led portion was under 5$.
