Manila Meet
on: December 07, 2008, 01:09:39 AM
After meeting in the forum and forming friendship, we, the only 3 active Philippines based members from the forum finally met. Its just a short meeting in Manila. I first met Gene then followed by Eddie, Gene and Eddie have met previously, it was my first time to meet them both. We hit it off like old friends.
Although the meet was a wee bit short we manage to have some fun comparing notes:

We manage to go to a sak shrine and pray  :D

Gene gave me a sweet native knife from the mountain province. Eddie gave us both a lot of lanyards (made me a my family happy gave some to my bros, cousins and wife pics shows only whats left for me :D) and also a sweet Credo bottle and can opener combo. I also got a ultrafire from Eddie not in the picture its been borrowed by my bro  :D

We plan to meet again and that time we plan to make the meet longer. Even for a very small group its hard scheduling our meet since all three of us are professionals with work and family, and we all live far from each other Gene is from Manila, I'm 4 hours car ride away from Manila and Eddie, well, he is a plane ride away from Manila!
Anyways hope you enjoyed the picture be it so few. One of the few joys in life is making a meeting friends, hope someday when things are better we could have an international meet! :D :tu: :D

Last picture I call this guardians of the SAK shrine! (Eddie was the one taking the picture)

That shrine looks nice. Reminds me to pay a visit to Vic store here in NYC, it's next to EMS so might drop by there as well. Thx for the post

Donald, i get to chuckle whenever i think of our short rendevouz at the Shang especially that part when we were eating. I was really shocked (so to speak) when i saw your stuffed sizzling squid gone in a jiffy!!! Man, I thought i was already the fastest when it comes to eating (as my old friends say I am) but you broke the record - you really are even faster than I do. It was a very delightful, meaningful meeting indeed. My wife enjoys my story about us as well. She says may it be a start of a very good friendship amongst us (Eddie, you and myself and of course all the other members of multitool.org).  ;)

Tell us more about the SAK shrine please. Is there a big Victorinox and Wenger dealer in Manila?

Eddie hope you made it home safe bro! Will be waiting for the pictures of your new SAKs! :tu:

Yes LM, SAKs here are quite expensive. Like for example, the Champ XLT is worth 10,000 pesos. In US $, its $200!
