Well since there’s only a club for the “Hunter XT” I figured I’d make a club for the “Not Hunter XT” and other Hunter variations.

Since it’s called the Hunter, then let’s go with the theme then! (Or as much as possible)

I’ll join up MMR. I tend to prefer the Forester in 111mm but I do have a Hunter and a couple of RAF Hunters for their novelty

Interesting how they replaced the corkscrew with a Phillips driver, is that a 2008 thing only or just a feature on the Camo Hunter?

The logo is partialy faded, but I love it anyway!

Yeah, not to happy as mine is fading also. You would have thought Vic could have done a whole lot better there.

Yeah my only complaint about mine is that I think the nylon handles feels a bit on the cheap side and the fact that the logos are painted on, which I suspected and which you just confirmed; would fade away over time

That small serrated blade looks so nice. I've been watching out for a Hunter, even more now that it's a liner lock.

Its a good knife, it takes the more sort of traditional approach, with it's more classic look to it. Where as a knife like the Hunter XT has a very speSmurfpillsed both look, color and tool assortment specifically for hunting, and although you cloud, wouldn't be ideal for a knife one would bring / use for other occasions (Not written as or intended as criticism of the Hunter XT). Where as the Hunter has all the tools you need for most outdoors activities, like Hiking, camping etc.

What I also really like about the Hunter is that it is a fairly thin SAK at 3 layers and it's pretty lightweight too, so it's not annoying to carry  on you either, let it be in your pocket or in a sheath.

And speaking of which the 111mm frame is a good size too, as you get a good size knife and you get a saw big enough to be useful as well, without it being too large to carry on your belt or in your pocket, and what I mean by that is that something like a 130mm Ranger I personally think is too large to have in your pocket or on your belt, its more something that would be carried in a backpack.

This is all just my opinion, and why I like my Hunter, and why I bought it and would recommend getting one. It is not intended to bash other knives or criticise them, nor is it meant to offend anyone, so please don't that any of this the wrong way.


Just FYI, regarding the "small serrated blade" or "gutting blade" it is not a locking blade, in fact the only tool in the Hunter that has a locking feature is the knife. Also as far as I understand the Liner lock, is a feature new on 2018 models, just something to be aware of, if you are looking at getting one.

I do want to add that the saw in the Hunter is not unique to the Hunter, but the standard saw found on 111mm SAK models.

I agree; I am not a fan of the XT either....the “Plain Hunter” has everything one needs and just works because of its simplicity
