Pruner and electrician blades into a 91mm mod...?
on: December 20, 2018, 07:34:39 PM
Hey guys, might as well ask this question here... I've had this up in the XLT forum but no response. So here goes:

The XLT has a layer with a pruner blade and an electrician blade, right? Is the backspring used in that layer (with a small screwdriver, I think) to be found in any other SAK beside the XLT (and the XAVT)? I'm idly toying with the idea of doing a 91 mm mod with such a layer, but I'm not about to spend the money required for an XLT (let alone an XAVT, heavens forbid) only to then cheerfully dismantle it.
Thanks in advance
Cheers!

I would think you could use a cut down a saw / file / scaler back spring to do the job and add some washers / spacers if needed.

Yeah, thanks zoidberg,, I've meanwhile been looking at a spare scaler backspring... looks feasible and appears to have the right thickness...

Hey, thanks Wspeed, that's useful info :tu:

Just posting some perhaps somewhat disjointed pics that may, or may not, suggest where this is going :D

And... the title is no longer entirely accurate.

I will put in the electrician blade, but not the pruner blade.
The latter's position will instead be taken by the small blade, which has to leave its original spot because I'm putting a 93 mm awl there :D  :woohoo:
