Good news! I hope they will try to do some of the old school quality, red bone covers Barlows from the past. That will be a tall order for Case to work on. One can hope.     :)

I always wondered why Case dropped the barlow.

I hadn't even realised they had, but then I don't keep up to date with changes like I used to.

There is a lot of grumbling going on about this on the BF due to the shield on the handle not being traditional  :dunno:

Really? That surprises me.

Of the ones with shields, all but two look like what I would think of as the traditional case shield with the oval shape. The two that are different I think I've seen used before, but I'm not all that knowledgeable about case

Holding out for Shepherd Hills or another largish dealer to have an SFO in CV.   But I like the looks of the single spear blade Smooth Antique Bone version best, though budget limits me to the more economical, two blade yellow Delrin one.   Too bad they didn't go with something more traditional, like a dark colored sawcut material or wood.

On another note, I've been carrying my great-uncle's old 6265 a lot lately. When he was still alive, it was his favorite hunting knife. I bought a Rough Rider folding hunter to replace it in EDC, but that didn't go over well. Their "Classic Carbon" definitely isn't Case's old carbon!

I just read a review over on the Case Collector Forum in which the man that bought one of the new ones is sending it back to Shepherd Hills due to blade rubbing.  He didn't seem too thrilled with the QC at Case these days.
