The inlays are my favourite - I have a few - Not enough  :(

There was an amazing one of a motorbike here for sale a couple of years ago - But I missed it     :dunno:

But I am a bit suspicious of the cows being an inlay?  ???  Looks too intricate and images not joined !

@ Mechanical - I think the HASCO one is hot stamping/printing - Letters not joined !

Other than that, i also really like the Vic standard inlays like the fish, camping, auto and shuttle, but i have none of those.

I know my tastes might be a bit boring to some, but hey... That's what i like man.... :cheers:

Oh, and about tang stamps, i just love the cross bow, it just added a touch of "finesse" to the blade, never understood why they changed it. Unfourtunatly i only have 3 saks with it...  :-\

Silver? How can you tell the difference? Is it model related? Can you give me more information on this?

I think he just means the shield is silver coloured ?   ???

FYI - The familiar Vic shield came in in 1909 and was initially made of nickel silver
In 1980  they changed it to stainless steel -
The nickel sliver shields tend to be a bit duller

In 1980  they changed it to stainless steel -
The nickel sliver shields tend to be a bit duller

When I first saw the Battle Series I could only think of one thing. Jack Kirby’s The New Gods comic. You would open it up and read/look at the story on the first page, but when you flipped to the next page it would show a battle scene on the two pages, and detailed! One panel covering two pages!  :tu:

Nevertheless the older stainless shields of the solid scales look better to me than the newer ones. The newer ones look more "brushed" looking, and the shield seams "thinner" as it tends to lift a bit more on the edges, on some i can press it down with my fingers, the older ones sit in place more solidly.

I've had a modern shield/cross fall right out before.  When you actually behold one out of the scale like that, it seems like it's about 0.00000001 mm thick.  For the longest time I kept track of it, then one day it just disappeared.  It was on a Scientist, unfortunately, so I broke down and put new scales on it.

If I recall correctly, there's a teensy weensy itsy bitsy hole and the little shield has a tiny pin that sticks into the tiny hole.  The scale itself is also depressed a little in the shape of the shield/cross to accept it.

Me too!  Have searched and searched, but the two I saw in 2018 both went for $425-$500.  Yikes.
