Just the knife itself? Without the watch?

Yes, I'd be happy with just the Apollo astronaut SAK, no watch needed here.

But since you mentioned it, did this knife come in a set with a Victorinox watch, or were you referring to a Speedy Pro?    :)

If I recall correctly, there's a teensy weensy itsy bitsy hole and the little shield has a tiny pin that sticks into the tiny hole.  The scale itself is also depressed a little in the shape of the shield/cross to accept it.
Cool!  :tu:

Hoping 2019 is the year I find one of these to buy!  Beautiful!  :tu:

Me too!  Have searched and searched, but the two I saw in 2018 both went for $425-$500.  Yikes.
:sa:
They are bringing that much money! Oh boy, I didn’t know that! Nice to know especially if I find one in the $200’s.

Mine was already a bargain at $450 with a Vic watch, if it was a Speedy then I would have had the deal of the century :)

Nevertheless the older stainless shields of the solid scales look better to me than the newer ones. The newer ones look more "brushed" looking, and the shield seams "thinner" as it tends to lift a bit more on the edges, on some i can press it down with my fingers, the older ones sit in place more solidly.

I've had a modern shield/cross fall right out before.  When you actually behold one out of the scale like that, it seems like it's about 0.00000001 mm thick.  For the longest time I kept track of it, then one day it just disappeared.  It was on a Scientist, unfortunately, so I broke down and put new scales on it.

Yup... I agree 100%
If i look at one of my 80's Tinkers and one of my 2017 Explorer or Super Tinker for example, the difference is quite obvious. The current ones appear to be way much thinner and inlaid way more "flimsy" than the older ones. It's the sign of times and corner and cost cutting for maximum profit.

On the current examples i gave above, the top edges of the shield lifter above the indent on the scale, on the Explorer was very noticeable, and i could push the edge down with my fingers, it wasn't still at all, i i could feel it, brand new out of the box from factory. It got on my nerves so much i ended up popping those scales off and took the chance to make it an Explorer Plus while i was at it.
On the old scales it feels like it's"set in stone" virtually indestructible...
Don't know if the actual procedure for attach ng it in place changed, but the thickness of the sheet metal from which the shield id cut sure did  :twak:

I guess I can definitely add the Fisherman to this group!
I see there is a difference in the inlay and I know a difference in the Camping. Are there any others with differences?

I'm hoping my new-to-me Fisherman is like yours in the bottom right photo.  It appears to have a double chin, just more detail really.

I'm sure it is. It's a good grab.  :tu:

Close to the 2nd one below which is c. '75 black spring and small scissor screw. Your inbound knife is probably c.'77 for the scissor parts.

Ray - you know I like my inlays!

I have a MIB Coke one too. Put away somewhere.

I like the size and how detailed they are. Strangely, I like the detail in the old, worn copy.

I'm with MacGyver, it has to be Red Celidor with the shield, I am going to make an exception soon and get one with Ruby scales, other than the shield I like the Camper and Fishermen inlays.
As for tang stamps, the crossbow wins
