Victorinox CyberChamp Lite
on: December 27, 2018, 03:47:23 PM
Following up from a now no longer aptly named thread, I present the most recent creation spawned by my twisted and debatably creative mind.

The discerning user will note the 93mm inline awl and the electrician's blade. The latter shares a layer with a small blade, which had to give op its usual place for the awl. The originally foreseen pruner blade was dropped.

Otherwise it's a blend of the CyberTool Lite and Ranger tool complements. It kind of reminds of a SwissChamp with cyberbits and light, minus the fish scaler and with replacement of the corkscrew with a fixed Phillips. The backspring awl was retained.

My plan was to create a pocketable toolbox with as much versatility as possible, without going all the way (and the cost) to an XLT or even an XAVT.

I also added small tweezers in the scale slot provided.

Double the tweezers double the fun!

What did you do with the front scale? If you move the tweezers to the back you can use plain scales on the front.
Otherwise you can add an extra pair of tweezers or, like I planned but didn't get to, a firefly fire rod.

@Mactire, I just left the original scale and tweezers. But on my Swisschamp I have replaced it with the toothpick which was replaced with a Firefly. I can simply swap the setups whenever I want.

@Wspeed: thanks :tu:

Thanks guys :tu:

I also like the tool complement.
However, the layout is not perfect yet... the layer with the electrician and small blades is a bit difficult to reach, and in addition it has turned out a bit tight for my liking, as if the spring I used (the one for a fish scaler, ground to accept the 2nd pivot) were just a tiny bit too narrow to keep the liners apart sufficiently for smooth tool action. In addition, retraction of the blades is hindered somewhat by their being exactly aligned. When I get around to it I might rebuild the knife with the blades layer somewhere else, e.g. between file and saw, and the spring replaced by one from an opener layer and some spacers added to opposite sides of the respective tangs. That gives me space for an additional small screwdriver, come to think of it...
Cheers!

Hopefully you will be able
to get it the way you want D_T :tu:

It is a lot of tools that all have to work together
But it sounds like you have already
thought of ways to fix the problems

Look forward to see what you come up with

Thanks! High praise indeed :hatsoff:
To paraphrase you, this may look a tad like a CyberClump Lite, but appearances can be deceiving - it's bulky rather than extremely heavy but even so, it sits well in the pocket next to my equally clumpy keys-in-pouch.
Cheers!

Thanks all - and I like your CyberChamp jaya_man :tu: (about that name - great minds think alike, eh? :D)

As serendipity has it, Obi, I - vaguely - have a mod in mind with a serrated blade and a marlin spike. Early days yet...
