Leatherman Kick RIT dye?

Has anyone used RIT dye to mod the inner plastic/FRN on the Kick or similar models? I know many have done it on the signal, but I’m trying to see How the grey FRN will take dye. Specifically looking to dye it blue, the lightest or brightest shade possible. Please post pics of your RIT dye mods on these models if you have done it or any grey based FRN for that matter. Thanks!

Dive in  :pok:.  Blaze the trail for us.  I've never RIT dyed anything but results we've seen on Signal parts is pretty good.

Ok ok I’ll do it! Just give me some time, I should have this coming Monday off which should give me all day to work on my mod projects. I was gonna fix our toilet that day but it looks like that project has been moved to today by my immediate supervisor (the wife)!  :D

Any suggestions on what shade of blue I should buy? Trying to go light/bright as possible. I’m afraid I might end up with a dark denim color.

I'd go with the aquamarine.  The gray color of the Kicks plastic may darken it but it'll be better than the royal blue.

Ok so I got the day off and the wifey is away so I had time to play! Here are the results of the RIT dye experiment. Came out a bit darker than I wanted (thank you all who recommended aquamarine, I ALMOST went with royal blue at the last minute) but I’m pretty happy with the results. There is a small spot near where the saw side tools are that didn’t take the dye because I only had them opened partially so it could fit in the pot but I can live with that.

I’m going to have to make 2 posts since I can only do 4 pics at a time.

Here are some pics of the before color, the water and one cup of vinegar solution (per RIT dye instructions for nylon), once I added the dye (let it sit for exactly 30 min.) and taking it out after time was up...

It was only in there for 30 minutes and also it was diluted. There was one cup of vinegar but about 4-5 cups of water. Also I rinsed it thoroughly right after I took it out.

I went with your suggestion of Aquamarine and it came out this dark so yeah definitely go with lighter colors.
